the universe is everything,,,,but when scientist say the '' universe '' is expanding, that means it is the materials of the universe are expanding, like you put an ice cube in a closed object then heat the ice. the ice become liquid then gaz :the volume of the same ice( from ice to gaz has increased) but still in the spherical object.but our univers is not closed , it is infinite and all inside are the ice.
