Funny u mention this ticking noise...i heard this on Ipods that shortly give out later and stop working period. the ticking sound, then the screen starts to flicker and slowly it don't come on no more...how long u had that PC? The other guys on here can finish because I am tech not god...

get a different mouse...I would. are u connecting usb stlye or wireless? it may be plainly defective...it happens.try a logitech...mine works perfect.
