I unfortunately know little about the Declaration of Independence and the Founding Fathers (other than some, including Thomas Jefferson, were deists) but I think "Creator" was meant as a deliberately vague and generic term. If they meant God, surely they would have said "God" or "Our Lord" or something more specific. But anyway, I am happy to disappoint you by informing you that, as an agnostic, I am not offended in the slightest by the word "God", "Yahweh", "Allah" or any of its variations. I do believe however that religion and government should be kept as far away from each other as possible (that was the general idea I believe). Religion has no place outside the private sphere in my humble opinion. I have no problem with people believing and practicing their respective religions as long as it is not forced upon people i.e. compulsory prayer in school (there is no law preventing silent prayer as far as I know), adding the term "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance despite it not being there in its original form (a pledge written by a socialist preacher incidentally) and so on.
