I recently went to MetLife stadium to see the amazing Joshua Tree concert.
Most amazing things were: 1. Attending with my best friend from high school who lives a world away from me and I see maybe every two years. 2. Taking our daughters to experience a band (one of the few) that meant so much to us. 3. Seeing other parents of the same generation hang with their kids, sharing a passion together, and not trying to make excuses or explain themselves. Most annoying was being surrounded by: 1. Those who'd been following U2 since Joshua Tree (as if that was the beginning of the band) and claiming their expertise by wearing the T **** to prove it. 2. 40-something men who bring their younger girlfriends, expecting them to like something they were passionate about 20-30 years ago. 3. The 100-lb. overweight loudmouth fan who has brought an entourage and has seen this concert in EVERY city and gives his friends the blow by blow... for ALL to hear. |
