I’ve been reading
And listening To hearts hardened By old wounds Emptied of all but Selfish desires Careless attitudes Spewing platitudes And clichés Highlighted by Indifferent reflection That final rejection “If you don’t like it …leave…” Hardly Words of affection … Well, that’s ok I don’t want someone Who can take me or leave me I want him to need me And not just consider me Another disposable life Tossed aside when I’m too inconvenient Too much effort To invest precious Energy into Is that love or need? Selfishness? Greed? Or just that desire To connect To share my time So little yet so Sublime When spent With someone Who just ‘gets’ me And loves me anyway? No judgments No questions asked Just enjoying sharing the air I breathe? Are we all so ****ing jaded Or is love just overrated? A convenient excuse We utilize and abuse To keep someone Tethered to our side? Company bought and Paid for with cheap words And false emotions? A meager offering that Will either make Or break the sale? We’ve all become Emotional misers Too tightly wrapped Hoarding and Banking the Three Little Syllables That would buy so much A loving bond A gentle touch… It’s truly a Broken economy Of the soul when we Find ourselves So emotionally Bankrupt That we can’t Open up rusted Vaults And fill our emptied Coffers with I Love Yous... feb 2009 |

It's quiet now my ears are ringing no Valentine but many memories still worth remembering Three games of pool two drinks per game no one there could remember me name Drove too far to see a band venue slash bar went on first we missed them damn huge breasts invading my space not sure if any of those women really even had a face Wet restroom floors graffiti marked doors drunken man whores violent female roars liquers sweating out of every persons pores Last call! I read a poem written by iam4u and quite agreed with him, we need to show encouragement to our new poets ( and to the "oldies" too) So once again, I am posting this.... Here's to your poetic inspirations ! Words, the tools that brought them all together Sharing tomes and verses relentlessly A variation of souls,they flock like birds of a feather. We've had poems that made us laugh and cry and some that have left us with a sigh Whimsical fantasies have graced these pages There are so many wonderful writers whose offerings has had us all enthralled for ages A journey to the milky way via some of our poets pens Even held stars in our hands,played with childhood memories and made friends Their imaginations have made us take steps into the unknown And we've watched as the talents of others have grown They've reached across culture's great divide by throwing out an open invitation for all to step inside We've shared their world and inner thoughts So much happiness their rhymes have brought We have had the pleasure to share so freely The writings of our poets, shared so merrily To name a single person would be unfair But I do know we all have our favourites,I do declare Isn't it wonderfuly to see words that appeal to all? Some have spoken of winter,summer spring and fall Others have written of loves' first stirring There's even been a few that have told of passion........very daring Marriages, births and yes, some have spoken of death And still their words keep coming,there is still a ton to come, yet A toast as well to all the readers of this forum and to others who have posted quotes of decorum Yes, I do believe in giving credit where it is due So now I make use of the opportunity and this I will do To the men and women who pen words of enjoyment Here's to your talents,your words have been well spent. I'm pretty sure she is going to need a bigger vacuum with so many bloodstained words (Type A for Alicia/Artist) spewing all over the place...but I also like SSouls image of the dam and the power such words can generate...for so many others who can use the truthfulness to shed light. I know I do. I dont think any scrawny little vacuum can clean up all the blood my good captain. But a transfusion or two may help... Happy Valentines Day Cliff~
