I think that there can be a happy medium without a doubt. I am a single dad of four kids. My wife passed away four years ago and I thought that I would never date again. Well at first it was hard. I have set up another date to check out 2012 and maybe The Road as well. Anyhow, between Mingle2 and moviedaters.com things are really looking up..
