I was just trying to let you know that I did not appreciate your wording as it did appear in my humble opinion to lump us all toghether. Second of all no I would not call anyone those names, I was merely using it for effect, but I believe that you have your beliefs and I have mine. I try to show tolerance, even though sometimes I slip up and at 23 I could learn a more about expressing my views a bit more diplomatically. You have my admiration for making this realization. Many who are older than you (including myself) could use some more diplomatic expressions at times as well!!!! |

How did my rant about the perception some have about christians turn into a "jesus" thread? :la now you see how some of these thread get to where they do! |

I agree it is easier to be a christian than a lot of religions, but if you understand the basic thought of this thread, I am just asking for some tolerance like I try to show every member here. Oh, I get that. I wish everyone would just chill and let people have their own opinions. Yes that is an excellent point. I consider myself quite tolerant, however, when told by christian that I am a "sinner" it offends me and irritates me to be judged in this manner. I have seen this happen many times. A christian enters a thread, tells the others present that they are "all sinners" and expects this not to offend? I don't even believe in "sin" or "hell". Well why would it offend......It would only offend if it were truth.....right or wrong. And do you not believe in good or bad.......and if not you better wake up and smell JB's tea.... I believe in good or bad. I think of "bad" as simply harmful actions. I don't understand how something is bad if it injures no living creature. E.g. There have been Christians who have told me sex is a "sin". I don't understand this at all. And I definitely don't agree with the concept that babies are "born bad" = original sin. To me that is a horrible start to give an innocent baby. And the word "sin" is a judgement by the speaker. I have never asked these random people to judge me. As for things only offending if they are true; I have never understood this saying. Truth may distress me if I have done something I am not happy about (I am far from perfect so this does happen) but truth would not offend me or upset me nearly as much as lies do. I hate when people say things about me that are not true- it is harder to deal with lies than the truth. Peace and joy. |

Thanks Cute and Jess! We're very excited.
Hey Jeannie. Why do you give up? Hmmm.... probably I will see in another thread- unless it has already been deleted. Hello Sam. Yes I understand it is because some want to control others, but I do not understand why one wants to control others. Sometimes I do have that impulse, especially when I see someone I love making a choice that I believe will result in harm. But most of the time even if my intent is good it's a bad idea. That doesn't mean I'm able to refrain though... Getting back to the need of religious groups to exert control and change not only their own followers but others as well... I don't get it. |

If the religious right(in this country) is correct in their statement that we are almost all Christians, then what are they so afraid of??? Yes mirror I agree- why would she "hide her christianity to make money" if the majority are christian. She would make more money as a christian?1 |

Two things about Oprah....she was a Christian and she used to speak her mind.....regarding her faith...but then the all mighty buck came into the picture...and because of what she believed in was loosing her viewers she then started skipping on the fence so to speak...hence the no specific God. Now what hurts me the most about what she has done is two things....I have met her, I have talked to her...I did a 10k run with her in Los Angeles. When she got all wishy washy on her beliefs because it was bad for ratings. This was a slap in God's face. I stand behind my convictions 100%. I have seen what she has done over the last 15 years and what scares me the most about it is the following she has. Satan to me has his hands in this big time...And what better way...the people adore her, almost worship her.....so satan can get how many many many more people through her...... Be careful folks what you buy into...... Disclaimer: This is my opinion and nothing being shoved at anyone.....I speak from what I know. Get all the shows and watch...watch the slow progression to what she thinks today.....Please don't take my word for it...look for yourselves. That doesn't make any sense to me because supposedly (according to the religious right) the vast majority of people in this country and in fact world-wide are Christian. This is what christians have said. So how could being known as a member of the largest religious group in her viewer ship possibly hurt her or cost her money or viewer ship? That makes no sense. |

I agree it is easier to be a christian than a lot of religions, but if you understand the basic thought of this thread, I am just asking for some tolerance like I try to show every member here. Usually if you show tolerance you will get tolerance in return... usually. You are right not all christians are the same, not all non-christians are the same either. Most of the people hear are able to listen to the views of others without feeling that these alternate views somehow threaten or negate their own beliefs. However, there are some who cannot stand to have a question asked, another belief system explained or to be challenged in any way. Some of these people are christian. Some are from other religions. It does seem that more of them are christian but perhaps that's just because there are more christians. All you can do is be yourself. That is how you can show others- by your example. Don't take the disagreements too seriously, you'll see in time that two can deteriorate into fighting, which I don't condone, but then the next day they are friends. Peace and joy to all. |

Now I want pudding and I don't have any... before you told me about pudding I wasn't even thinking about pudding but now I know about pudding and apparently if I don't make some pudding I'll go to HELL...
Hmm... wait... is that right? (((((((DD))))))) You only go to HELL if it was chocolate pudding that you didn't make. If it was popcorn-flavored pudding that you didn't make then you get three free passes to heaven. One for you, one for a friend, and one to slip to me when Wouldee and MorningSong aren't looking. (((((Abra)))))) Well in that case it was definitely popcorn-flavored pudding that I didn't make!!! I made you some chocolate pudding to eat while you wait to get to heaven. I heard it takes a while to get there... and by some of the stories I read I think we all actually stay here on earth for a couple thousand years or something while waiting for the angels to stop fighting... |

Now, Drew, let me take a look at the mole on your neck.... Don't do it Drew- run, run away... (having flashbacks to all scary movies ever seen- neck veins standing out as I scream at the screen- "Don't go in the woods you idiot!! Go home and lock the door and crawl in bed") (closest to a scared emoticon I saw...) |

the Pope

Does anyone think the pope has too much power? Just asking. He is a powerful influence in the media and around the world. I mean he can even place sainthood on people. Can't he? Kat He can make people saints but that only effects catholics. They would be catholic saints. He has as much power as catholics let him have. But I think the current pope is pretty flexible and modern. I am not a huge fan of him in general- any affiliation with the nazi's really bothers me. I understand that sometimes people do things when they are young and frightened and regret them later but then those people don't get to be pope. Or president. I try not to judge anyone but connects to genocide attempts could be an exception for me... |
