Relationships end for a reason, and there is an understanding (by at least one side) that whatever is wrong with it, makes the right parts not worth it. By going back for sex (presumably one of the good parts) it's like saying that the breakup/divorce was a mistake. That or it just means the person hasn't moved on and needs some ego stroking.... I could be wrong
