Heh; maybe only "old people" (like me) get that?
"[The song became] a number one song in 1969, and one of the most notable hits of Presley's career. "[The song]" was widely regarded as the single that returned Presley's career success, following his '68 Comeback Special. It was his eighteenth and last number-one single in the United States." I like Dwight Yoakam's cover of it. |

"We are born wet and naked, and it gets worse from there."--I. Dunno
It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company. George Washington Good one. Added that to my "learned something new today" file.
And that dog-with-ball-launcher GIF is priceless. BTW, it's okay to talk to yourself, and even to argue with yourself. It's only considered "not good" to lose any arguments you have with yourself. |

Time is my friend in matters of the heart. :) Good one! Somebody more talented than I am could write a song around that.

I absolutely love Chrystal River , it is definitely a morning mellow song for me, though I never heard of it, or the group until NoCat suggested it. And 9:24 is the perfect length of time for a coffee. Glad you enjoyed the song. I watched Mud Crush The Story, at midnight http://youtu.be/U9qbQxbvtTI/. I think back in the day, I would of stole a few of their hats & wore them myself. Cool; I hadn't seen that before. I'll have to check that out later.
I think Tom Petty has always been kind of a "Mad Hatter," and not just in the vid for "Don't Come Around Here No More." Stevie Nicks wore some, too, if I remember correctly. Tom has had a most interesting musical career. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwqhdRs4jyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8s9dmuAKvU Another interesting story I just found, and have set aside for later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTZiWlsw1Iw[/ul] RIP Roy and George. |

Well, there's that old saying, "You have to read the fine print."
Sometimes that's where you realize there's not gonna be a match, or you might find exactly what (who) you were looking for. |

I agree completely. It seems that getting a date here is like winning the lottery. There is a better chance of getting struck by lightning. Some of the posts are good and funny. Some are negative and demanding. Many are self serving. I get "friend requests" from 30 year olds from somewhere I ain't even close to or know where it is without going to Google earth. What does a thirty something want with a 72 year old man? From my profile picture you should be able to tell I do not have oodles of bucks. I don't know as the chances of getting hit by lightning are better (and that doesn't sound like much of a good time), but think of it this way: "If it was too easy, it wouldn't be any fun." (Yeah, I know; not mcuh help, right?
Something I thought of this morning, after receiving a message from somebody that I'm pretty sure is a scammer: If they message you, but haven't even viewed your profile, it should set off your BS Detector. Another thing was, the time the message was sent was rather "off," so I doubt if the sender lives in the same time zone I do, let alone only about 33 miles away. But in the interim, I've enjoyed the exchange with everyone on the forum, so it's good for that. |

ain't nothing wrong with wearing a hat Thanks. Now I suppose I gotta shave and have some pics taken.
And you just reminded me of a Woody Allen joke, which I probably can't tell here. The last time I recall telling it was 20+ years ago, and a female friend who overheard said "Thanks for sharing." |

Tom and SassyEuro: Have you ever checked out Mudcrutch? According to Wikipedia, Mudcrutch was formed in 1970, but "was disbanded by the record company in 1975 and did not play together again until recording this album (Mudcrutch) 32 years later. After the initial break-up, band members Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench went on to form Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers."
I read on the EBow site that somebody (probably Mike Campbell) used an EBow in "Crystal River," so I bought an MP3 of it. Here's the song on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4gXHBxBKew If you wanna zone out for about 9 minutes, put the headphones on and enjoy. |

Spiders want to hear a grown woman scream like a little girl over and over let one be in my house.. nasty things...
I hope I can post this here:
Maybe I should put that in my profile. "Guy Stuff that I can do: Not so good at Lifting Heavy Objects, but fairly good at Fixing S***. Very good at Taking Out the Trash. Highly qualified at Killing Icky Bugs. Other qualifications upon request." |

So many candidates for Best Reply of the Week. The one with the Curly McDimple (you know who I mean) pic is priceless. (Why am I not surprised to see that came from TMommy? )
With material like this, who needs TV? |

Tipping big accomplishes a few things one it says you are generous 2 it says you appreciate Good service. 3 it lets her know you're not a cheap bastard... And 4, you'll be less likely to die of thirst because the waitperson ignores you. |

I thought the same thing, that how could you fall for such scams, but then watching Dr. Phil, he had a woman on it that fell for it for two years. Then there was the "warning" going around on Facebook about the guy who had his wallet lifted by two attractive young (and "friendly") ladies he met at Walmart or someplace.
They scammed him again about a week later. But on a more serious note, do be careful. To the OP: How do you mean "it didn't work so far"? Are you just not finding matches, or not finding exactly what you want, or did you actually meet someone local to you but found no "chemistry"? Some suggestions: Post a photo. (Yeah, I know; pot, kettle, yada yada. I don't have any good recent ones. But I'll add one soon.) You should keep active on the site. I think posting in Community helps with that, so you've taken a step already. Do a search for new matches every day or two, since a new match (or matches) might have appeared very recently. Don't expect miracles, but stay positive. That's all for today's free advice. |

Life was so much simpler then... At least back then, there was no "for this, press that" nonsense like today. Now that's a time sink. |

Age and treachery.
I thought I felt a kinship after reading a few of your posts.
We may be related. Who's your daddy? No worries, if I'm over 50 & pass by, the gray in my left eye brow, then you can be 50 & pass by your stash. Okay, thanks.
I gotta get a photo up. But I'll probably have a hat on in the photo. Some guys wear baldness well, but I'm no Bruce Willis. |

Not even ONE? How about your eyebrows? Can someone check your ears? I weed whack my ears on a regular basis. "The only place it still grows, Is your ears and your nose, Rogaine" -- one of the parody versions of J.J. Cales' (and Eric Clapton's) "Cocaine" made into "Rogaine." Here's another one, by Tim Hawkins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Nu7vamRCA I seem to be getting taller. A few years ago, I noticed that I seem to be growing up through my hair. But there are some silver ones left. Seems like my 'stache has been gray for decades. |

huh..always thought a silver fox referred to an older male Anyway, one day during basic training, I looked in a mirror to see if my hair was growing back, and it was--but gray in the front. I wasn't quite 23 at the time. I think it's still "mostly" brown now, but I snuck in here anyway. ("Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill." ) SassyEuro's mention of the Chi-Lites made me think of Paul Young's cover of "Oh Girl," which then led me to this one, which was written by Daryl Hall and released by Hall & Oates in 1980. Paul Young covered it in '85. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfk6sCzRTbM I have a vague recollection of doing it at least once for karaoke, although without any of Paul's stage gyrations, even though that was back in my drinkin' days. |

Sorry. I got spoiled by forums with shortcuts to coded stuff. RebelArcher's post was pointing the n00b (me) to the thread with the info.

A couple of nice little ditties by the guy who's also known as the "Godfather of Grunge." From Harvest Moon:
"Harvest Moon" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2MtEsrcTTs "Unknown Legend" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJNYjaZ_29k I'm hoping to learn to play both of those, including the harp parts. (Eventually.) |
