Finding a partner who enjoys travel is very difficult. Lots of people think they are travelers, but when push comes to shove, they never actual travel or go anywhere! I too am looking for someone who loves road trips and travel, but seems no one in my area does.

If by backpacking you mean staying in dorm style accommodations, carrying your belongings in a pack, eating street food and taking local transit, then I would say Egypt is pretty cheap. I was there not all that long ago. Only problem is as a woman I found it very unsafe!
