Their latest models do not require a PC, so no software to install. All you need to do is to connect it to your modem and your phone. Sound quality is pretty good. I bought the MagicJackGo from BestBuy recently for ~$50 and it includes one year of service. There is also a MagicJackExpress from their web site. It sells for ~$40 with 3 months of service.
