September 19, 2016 – WLOS — RALEIGH, N.C. — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has issued another executive order to make it easier to keep gasoline supplies flowing to the state following a pipeline spill in Alabama.

The order declares that an emergency exists and waives some federal weight, size and length limitations allowing larger trucks on the road to haul fuel. The order also extends one issued last week waiving limits on the number of hours that commercial drivers can be behind the wheel.

Report gas prices that seem unreasonably high, Attorney General Roy Cooper urged North Carolina consumers Monday.

He did the same in an interview with News 13 over the weekend.

“Consumers are our eyes and ears on the ground and we want to know if you spot potential gas price gouging,” Cooper said in a press release.
North Carolina’s law against price gouging is currently in effect due to limited supplies of gasoline caused by a leak in a pipeline that carries gas from the Gulf Coast to North Carolina and other southeastern states.

As of 11 a.m. on Monday, more than 400 consumers had filed complaints online or via a toll-free hotline to report potential gas price gouging to the Consumer Protection Division.

Price gouging—or charging too much in times of crisis—is against North Carolina law when a disaster, an emergency or an abnormal market disruption for critical goods and services is declared or proclaimed by the governor. The law applies to all levels of the supply chain, from the manufacturer to the distributor to the retailer.

The price gouging law is currently in effect due to a market disruption for gasoline declared late Friday.

North Carolina law (Chapter 75-38) defines price gouging as charging “a price that is unreasonably excessive under the circumstances.” There is no set price or percentage increase defined in the law so the law can apply to different products and services in times of crisis.

In this case, the law has in effect specifically to prevent gas price gouging.

You can report price gouging three ways:

• File a complaint online at ncdoj.gov.

• Mail a complaint to: Consumer Protection Division

Attorney General’s Office

Mail Service Center 9001

Raleigh, NC 27699-9001

• Call 1-877-5-NO-SCAM (toll-free within North Carolina) or 919-716-6000.

The Departmenr of Justice says it’s helpful if you can provide receipts if you purchased gas, or photos of gas station price signs you spot.

The DoJ’s Consumer Protection Division follows up on complaints of potential price gouging to determine if the law has been violated. It uses information provided by consumers, including first-hand reports, receipts, and photos of gas station price signs.

Little Girl’s Lemonade Stand Shut for Not Getting a $3,500 Permit

http://www.dcclothesline.com/2016/09/18/little-girls-lemonade-stand-shut-for-not-getting-a-3500-permit/

Orange County, CA – Annabelle Lockwood makes the best homemade lemonade around Fountain Valley. Using her grandma’s recipe, a homemade stand built by her father and a lot of passion, she serves the gourmet refreshments – classic or pink lemonade, and flavors like peach, blueberry ginger and watermelon – to eager customers and charitable events.

But her passion is being tested by the regulatory hand of the State. Orange County authorities shut down Annabelle’s “small business” and gave her 30 days to get the proper permit and license.

The permit will cost around $200, but in order to secure the permit Annabelle will have to meet a bevy of government requirements – costing $3,500 – just to serve fresh-squeezed fruit juices to thirsty passersby.

According to the GoFundMe account set up by the Lockwood’s to help meet this financial burden levied by the State:

“1. She needs to upgrade her cart to get it up to commercial standards, in order to pass the inspection.
2. She needs to make the lemonade in a licensed facility. Licensed kitchens require: Liability insurance, a business license, a deposit and an hourly or monthly fee for use.
3. She needs commercial grade dispensers and bottles.”

The family has received enormous support after media began telling Annabelle’s story, but in the meantime she has had to “turn down a wedding, corporate events, movies in the park and church events,” according to local KTLA 5.

Annabelle had previously set up her stand to help charities such as children’s cancer research and homeless services, but that was put on hold pending government permitting. She’s also had to turn down “a wedding, corporate events, movies in the park and church events.”

“This isn’t just another business venture… it’s becoming a life lesson for a young ambitious entrepreneur. She will be able to do so much more in the community as well as at charity and school events to help others. She’s extremely passionate about her business, and we are so proud of her for creating something that so many others can enjoy!”

It’s turning out to be a hard and fast lesson in how government requirements on business – many of which play no role in protecting people or the environment – put a heavy, unnecessary burden on aspiring entrepreneurs. Revenue collection is often the only driver of government permits and licenses.

Bearing down on the age-old tradition of youngsters setting up lemonade stands demonstrates how obsessed the State has become in “regulating” small business.

It appears that Annabelle made it through the gauntlet, with the help of many who donated to her GoFundMe account after reading her story. Others are not so fortunate, though.

In Portland, Ore. an 11-year-old girl wanted to sell mistletoe from their farm at a holiday market to help her dad pay for her braces, which cost $5,000. But the Parks Bureau refused to let her set up without a permit, lease or concession agreement. She was told she could beg instead.

Obama, in final visit to United Nations, to focus on refugees

USA TODAY3 hours ago

NEW YORK — President Obama will push world leaders to do more to meet the needs of the world's swelling throngs of refugees on Tuesday, telling the United Nations that the entire world has a responsibility to help families displaced by war and persecution.

"The gap between the funds that we have and the funds that we need remains enormous," Secretary of State John Kerry told the United Nations Summit for Refugees and Migrants Monday. "We would be even more satisfied if the need were ended."

The United Nations adopted a non-binding declaration Monday, signed by 193 nations, that calls on countries that can accept more refugees for resettlement to do so, and for wealthier nations to spend more on humanitarian aid. Kerry said Obama will call on leaders to go even further with specific commitments on Tuesday. "Make no mistake: Additional efforts are urgently needed," he said.

But refugee groups remained skeptical that the U.N. action — known as the New York declaration — was adequate.

"Let's not be fooled by what we heard at the United Nations today. Focus on what we did not hear," said Nobel laureate and human rights activist Malala Yousafzai. "The declaration does not include any new, substantive commitments for refugees. Away from the cameras, in refugee camps and roadways, in boats and out of school around the globe, the world’s refugee children were hoping for more. They deserve more."

The refugee issue tops Obama's agenda during his three-day trip to New York this week — a visit that will also provide one of his final opportunities to to define his legacy on the world stage, touting progress made on climate and nuclear non-proliferation.

He'll also talk to world leaders about the civil war in Syria, Russian occupation of Ukraine, and North Korea's nuclear tests. And bombings in New York and New Jersey also underscored the urgency of the global fight against the Islamic State.

The instability in Syria and Iraq is a root cause of both the terror threat and flood of refugees fleeing the Middle East and North Africa, which has been called the worst refugee crisis since World War II.

"From Syria alone, nearly 5 million refugees have crossed the Syrian border trying to seek safety from barrel bombs and chemical weapons attacks and terrorist attacks," said Samantha Power, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. "And all of these individuals, every one of these numbers, is a face and a person with a family. They are facing very uncertain futures and they’re looking to the rest of the world and to the U.N., of course, for help."

With more than 65 million people displaced from their homes around the world, Obama will convene a Refugee Summit on Tuesday with leaders from Canada, Ethiopia, Germany, Jordan, Mexico and Sweden. The Obama administration hopes to secure agreements to pay for food aid and to double the number of refugees resettled in third countries each year.

The Obama administration itself has signaled it will raise the worldwide limit on the number of refugees entering the U.S. to 110,000 next year, up from 85,000 this year. Officials have not said how many will come from Syria.

Also on Tuesday, Obama will deliver his eighth and final speech — as president — to the United Nations General Assembly, and is expected to talk about the progress made on global issues during his presidency.

In his first speech in 2009. he acknowledged that he was "well aware of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world."

"Every moment is unique," Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said Friday. "At that time, a lot of the focus on U.S. foreign policy was tied to the fact that we had 180,000 troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, it's obviously very different. The question is what are the approaches that we're taking to deal with different challenges, and that's what he'll lay out in the speech."

Away from the United Nations General Assembly chamber, Obama will also spend the week conducting one-on-one diplomacy with leaders of China, Iraq, Nigeria, Israel and Colombia.

The meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a late addition to the schedule, might be the last sit-down between the two leaders, whose relationship has been fraught with tension over the years.

But the meeting comes a week after the two nations signed a new 10-year defense agreement that will provide Israel with $38 billion in U.S. aid, the single largest pledge of military assistance in U.S. history. They'll also discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Iran nuclear deal, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Sunday.

Obama's first order of business upon arriving in New York Sunday was appearing at a $25,000-and-up fund-raiser for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. He also appeared at a fundraiser for Senate Democrats at a luncheon Monday.

Thousands evacuated as major fire engulfs Greek refugee camp

— RT News

http://www.rt.com/news/359924-fire-refugee-camp-evacuated/
* Video & Tweets*

Around 4.000 refugees have been evacuated by the authorities on the Greek island of Lesbos after a massive blaze swept through a migrants’ camp.

"Between 3,000 and 4,000 migrants have fled the camp of Moria" due to the fire, a police source told AFP.

According to officials, the blaze has been contained with authorities now working to distribute basic provisions such as water to the affected refugees.

Around 150 minors evacuated from the camp were moved to the children’s village on the island, a source told AFP. He added that there was “no doubt” that the fire was set off by the inhabitants of the compound.

The Moria camp is a key hub for refugees on the island, housing around 5,600 migrants.

Prior to the fire, the compound saw two separate protests, one staged by a group of migrants and one by local residents, AFP reports.

According to the news agency, citing local media outlets, the rallies turned into riots.

The rally staged by the locals was demanding that the authorities clear the camp and deport the migrants. AFP reports that far-right activists had infiltrated the demonstration, shouting anti-migrant slogans and lashing out at officials and refugee helpers.

Reports indicate that earlier the migrants discovered they might be deported to Turkey, leading some 300 of them to stage their own rally in protest. However, police intercepted the refugees and sent them back to the camp.

Apart from the blaze inside the camp, two more fires were discovered among the olive trees near Moria, but firefighters managed to extinguish them swiftly.

Greece is currently housing over 60,000 refugees, located on several islands. Lesbos hosts one of the camps, but the facility has been particularly criticized by human rights groups for being overcrowded and suffering from unsanitary conditions.

Government data cited by AFP says that five Greek islands are housing some 13,000 refugees, while originally they were designed to accommodate less than 8,000.

Yelpers trash restaurant owned by family of New York City bombing suspect

New York City and surrounding cities were rocked over the weekend by the discovery of multiple explosive devices—including one that detonated in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, injuring 29 people on Saturday night.

On Monday morning, police released information on Ahmad Khan Rahami, who was identified as the primary person of interest in the Saturday night blast, an explosion in New Jersey's Seaside Park on Saturday morning and a failed bomb attack Sunday night near a train station in Elizabeth, N.J. Millions in the Tri-State area received mobile alerts as police urged citizens to come forward. Rahami was captured hours later.

Rahami was BORN in AFGHANISTAN  but is a US citizen and resident of Elizabeth—where his family still owns a restaurant, First American Fried Chicken.

When it first opened for business, the fried chicken eatery was open 24 hours and, according to The New York Times, attracted noisy crowds late into the night.

After SEVERAL complaints from neighbors, the City Council ORDERED  that the restaurant close no later than 10 p.m. The Rahamis allegedly IGNORED the complaints-- and a city ordinance-- continuing to serve food late into the night. One of Rahami’s brothers who worked at First American, ASSAULTED A POLICE OFFICER who came by to enforce the curfew. He was ARRESTED but then FLED TO AFGHANISTAN.

The Rahamis SUED the mayor, City Council, and local police force on the grounds of racial and ethnic discrimination in 2011. But Elizabeth’s mayor Christian Bollwage told the Times that the crackdown on the fried-chicken restaurant was solely due to the PUBLIC DISTURBANCES surrounding it and had nothing to do with the family ethnic background.

As news of Rahami's connection to the restaurant was made public, Yelpers started to flood the review page for First American Fried Chicken. Some are leaving one-star reviews, others are trashing the food, many are lambasting the restaurant as a breeding ground for terrorists, while others are posting “jokes” about the restaurant being a “blast.”

    — Ty (@tyswizzles) September 19, 2016

Since comments started flooding the page this morning, the restaurant’s rating has dropped to below two stars. Reviews dated before Sept. 19 were generally positive.

According to Times, regulars at the restaurant describe Rahami as "friendly" and that he “hung out on the sidewalk with friends,” and often gave regulars free chicken.

On Monday afternoon, Yelp had activated its “Active Cleanup Alert,” a message warning people  that when a business makes headlines, associated reviews may be about the news, not the restaurant or business itself.

(Yelp)

“This business recently made waves in the news, which often means that people come to this page to post their views on the news,” says the site.

“While we don’t take a stand one way or the other when it comes to these news events, we do work to remove both positive and negative posts that appear to be motivated more by the news coverage itself than the reviewer’s personal consumer experience with the business.”

Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage confirmed the longstanding issues with the family, but said the city's actions against their restaurant were strictly code-related.

"It was strictly about neighbors calling about noise," Bollwage said. "It was never ethnicity or religion or beliefs or anything like that."

Radical Hispanic Activist Who Condemned Trump's Mexican Rapist Comments - Is Arrested for Rape

Sep 18th, 2016

You just can’t make this up…
Hispanic activist Tony Yaplas, who has led protests against Donald Trump in Salt Lake City, was arrested for raping an illegal immigrant.

Yaplas was very upset with Trump’s Mexican rapist comments.
Now he’s been arrested for rape.
Conservative Treehouse reported:

You might remember a Hispanic political activist named Tony Yapias, who was extremely critical of Donald Trump’s assertion that some illegal Mexican aliens were rapists.

Tony Yapias is the director of ‘Proyecto Latino de Utah’. Mr. Yapias also coordinated numerous protest events against Donald Trump including a rather violent display in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This week Tony Yapias has been arrested for rape. However, not only was Yapias arrested for rape – his victim was, …wait for it…, yep, an illegal alien.

Yes, it appears Mexican rapist Tony Yapias felt additionally empowered by the fact his victim was less likely to be able to contact law enforcement.

Police say Tony Yapias forced his way into the home of a woman who had broken off their long-term relationship months ago and raped her.

London’s Muslim Mayor Tells New York And London to Get Used to Terrorism

On a trip to New York City, London’s Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan has said terror attacks are “part and parcel” of urban life, just hours after an Islamic terrorist bombed the city.

Mr. Khan also seized the opportunity to launch an explicit attack on the Brexit vote and rise of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. He compared to two movements, claiming they are both driven by “scapegoating”.

“All these problems will not be solved by voting to leave the EU or voting for – I don’t want to name the candidate – a president of the USA,” he said.

He said that he and Bill de Blasio, the Mayor of New York, “believe in building bridges rather than walls” and that there are leaders “who address people’s concerns” and others “who play on people’s fears”.

The London Mayor joked that he “shouldn’t really get involved in the American elections”, but added: “I hope the best candidate wins – I’m sure she will”, repeating his endorsement of Hillary Clinton which he first made in Chicago last week.

Building Inclusive Cities: Mayor Bill de Blasio in conversation with London Mayor Sadiq Khan at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City.

The two left-wing mayors, of London and New York, were speaking at an event called ‘Building Progressive, Inclusive Cities’ in New York. It is the second time the men have met, after coming together before at the Labour party conference in Britain last year.

Earlier on Sunday, Mr. Khan had spoken at a “meeting for Muslim community leaders” where he also addressed the attacks.

“It is a reality I’m afraid that London, New York, other major cities around the world have got to be prepared for these sorts of things,” he said, the Evening Standard reports.

“That means being vigilant, having a police force that is in touch with communities, it means the security services being ready, but also it means exchanging ideas and best practice,” he added.

At the meeting with New York’s Mayor, he began: “It’s important, in the context of the explosion last night, for me to say this to you: Londoners stand shoulder to shoulder with New Yorkers.”

He then appeared to draw an equivalence between people who say offence things and terrorists who commit violence.

He slammed “some people who try and divide our communities”, people who “say things they shouldn’t be saying”, along with “people who try to commit acts of terror”.

“We are the West”, he asserted, insisting that it is “compatible to be someone with Western liberal values… [and] to be a mainstream Muslim”.

— Sadiq Khan (@SadiqKhan) September 17, 2016

In New York, he also said of the Brexit it Vote: “I tell you what happened when we voted to leave the EU, there was a spike in race attacks”, despite the fact this claim has been widely discredited.

Mr. Khan also attacked those who raise concerns about his connections with radical Islam, claiming his Conservative opponent in the London mayoral election ran a “negative” and “divisive” campaign containing “some of the worst sorts of Islamophobia you have every seen”.

During the campaign, it emerged Mr. Khan had shared a platform with numerous anti-Semites, defended 9/11 terrorists as a barrister, and had a brother-in-law who was a member of banned jihadi group Al-Muhajiroun.

And since taking office, he has appointed an extremism-linked “Integration Deputy Mayor”, as Breitbart London revealed last week.

I can't image why she or anyone would suggest she write a book.

Way back when, when Bill was governor of Arkansas, she was like ... an evil zombie, even before, the Whitewater scandal.
Which she was also guilty.

It was all over the media, that despite his promiscuity, he was rising to power on HER money. Few looked at her as a jilted wife. We knew there was a reason she stayed and that reason was NOT her love or loyalty to him, or her generation.
Jackie Kennedy, she is not. noway

Newspapers across the country mocked the ' Stand by your man thing' role, she was playing. People were not buying it.

A book about her vision for the future of the country... we already know... she has already said it.... "Fun camps" for who she considers  "deplorables' that are  'unredeemable'

Funny how after awhile they have nothing to say to these never ending attacks on the non Muslim community. Although they did in earlier times.. but now they are too frequent and cross over much every country.

Its much easier to put your head in the sand and let it blow over or act like you never saw the post.
