I have just had one of the worst experiences with a completely deceptive consumer company: Vonage !!!
After a year of poor service and terrible customer service I attempted to close my account. Owing to the fact that Vonage has offshore customer service it took me an hour to make them understand what I wanted and when they understood, they wanted to gather marketing information for their documentation. When I refused the survey they said they couldn't close my account until I answered their questions. After that they said they were going to impose a "closing fee" to close the account. I asked them to supply me with a contract that bore my signature that indicated that I authorized a closing fee. They admitted that they could not provide such a document, but stated that my agreement was implied since I signed up for service with them. I canceled all payments to them from my bank.
My advice, for what it is worth, "stay away from the crooks at Vonage"
