How do you perceive heaven and hell and what might they be like to exist in?

Please include references, if you can, to whatever Torah, Bible, Koran, etc., passages that you think support your perceptions.

Might want to take a look at the rules for the Religion Forum.

I perceive heaven and hell to be as the bible scriptures describe them. Heaven, basically, is to be in the presence of Christ. It's to be no longer separated from him by sin and death. We get there by public acknowledgement of who he is and what he did, by accepting that, by turning to his way of life (repentance) and baptism by immersion to join Jesus in his death, burrial and resurrection.

To me, it's kind of more important how to get there than what the place'll be like. I'll worry about it when I get there. I figure there will be rewards in heaven for what we have done here as Christians, too. That, too is biblical. A book I read quite often, the Purpose Filled Life can give you even more details.

Hell is, well, hellish. Not a great place to think about. A lot of torment, impossible to get loose from, not my idea of a great party.

But, according to the Bible, which I believe, we have a choice of where we end up. We can follow God's way and be reunited with him after we pass on, or we can go our own way and be eternally separated from him after we pass on.

I think life is better his way, regardless of the future. I'm in the present now and want to go his way presently.

Heaven and Hell, it's all there. Have you heard of these before in a church or on the radio or the TV? There's probably a lot of descriptions. There is art, too, paintings of both places which might give you insight as well.

Tell me if you need more description and I'd be glad to provide if needed. Thanks.

I believe in Ephesians Chapter 2 Verses 4-8

But God being rich in mercy , because of His Great love and which He loved us, even when we were dead in out trangression, made us alve together with Christ( by grace you have been saved) and raised us up with HIM and seated us with HIm in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, in order that is the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith and that notof yourselves, it is the gift of GodL Not as a result of works, which no one should boast.

I think this passage might say that by believing in Christ Jesus we are already in heaven. This is our HOPE.

I believe it is sort of calvinist, but I prayed on it and it comforts me when I wonder about Heaven.
