BTW, I'm just posting a friendly question. Not trying to criticize anybody.
it's not my life, i'm just trying to get some ideas to understand my brother from another mother.

"The government says that to have value as a human you must make this much" Noone disagress, so it continues

where does the government say anything like that?

ever been to a divorce hearing, or child custody. It comes down to money, been to many.

Taxes, welfare, all is judged on income, open your eyes once in a while. Scarry but you learn things

how else would you make determinations regarding taxes or welfare? It kinda has to be money.

Yes but we(people of the USA) have slipped into using social status to determine all aspects of life, its very sad.

He is working himself to death, poor guy. What does he do? He needs some better jobs!

I must say, I admire his dedication to his family, though. It kind of shows that the regime in his country's kind of an economic basket case, though. They need more freedom to trade and manufacture, free of governmental interference. Excess regulation can foul up trade very quickly and we are reaching that point here, I think. We're very close to it now.

what i'm wondering is what we call a decent living?
what is our standard of living?
are we trying to live like donald trump with 6.15 an hour?
if that is our standard of living well then it's ok to work two or three jobs.
but if we know what our needs are, then why to kill the body, if we don't even have the time to enjoy all those things we work so hard for.

I knew a guy that worked three jobs and had a nice apartment, a big screen, plenty of toys, and a lot of other "excess" items. Of course he was never home to enjoy any of it. Never made much sense to me either. *shrug*

Naah. You're supposed to kill the work. Works better that way. And from what I say, if it wasn't for work, I wouldn't have a job!

My work (nursing) tried to kill me. It's hard to say no to another shift, when you know your patients will suffer. I had to quit, file for disability and apply for social service benefits. I got the disability. I have a lot of pain. I live on $11084/yr. I get nothing from social services. I finally got medicare, so I don't have to worry about health insurance anymore. It costs $96.40 a month out of my check. I get housing assistance. I have a one bedroom apartment in a secure building. I am allowed to have a pet. I have a cat, because I am physically unable to walk a dog in all weather. I feel blessed to have shelter, companionship, and almost enough money for food. My Dad died Feb 23, but, I still have my mom and brothers and sisters. I wish I could help my daughter and grandchildren like I did when I was nursing, but, she understands. It's a good thing I have no inclination to "keep up with the Jones'". I will see a neurosurgeon for the multiple disc disease in my lumbar spine in April and hopefully I will get some relief from the pain I am in. Bless you all. I wish you all the health to do a job that gives you self worth.
