BobbyJ just displayed how we can know that normal eyes see things the same...

His eyes are not like most, observably so...

Therefore his recognition of color varies accordingly...

Oddly enough, I know a finisher(painter) who has a similar condition to BobbyJ's but the guy is by far, the best I have ever seen at matching stain and/or finish hues....

Go figure...huh

I don't think she was saying that we might in reality see different colors...it was more about how a person who is capable of seeing the entire spectrum of color that just happened to be opposite (red becomes green, blue becomes orange, etc.) would never know, because what they were being taught was red would be thought of as red by them...regardless of what color it actually was.

So the teacher might hold up a picture of a red apple, and even though the kid might see what the rest of us think of as green they would say it was red because that's what they were taught as the name of the color of that particular apple. It's all about words and language.

Yes, undoubtedly if one is born with a variance in how their eyes are constructed then their sight will be affected...

Regarding my friend... Uncle Harry, as he is called, could and did perfectly match an addition to a jury box in a federal courthouse which was made out of Black Walnut and was over 100 years old...

Seamless... absolutely amazing... still amazes me 17 years later...

His was not a handicap... for sure...

WE were the ones with the handicap, in that case...

People, like your uncle, and me (branded as handicapped for a number of reasons) aren't "handicapped" or "disabled". We are "differently abled".

Yeah well... I have been labeled as over 30% mentally disabled also...

So, I am with ya on this...

Differently abled is quite the apt phrase, indeed!

Sure does making finding a date the challenge, does'nt it when one is "differently abled"? We not only have to get over the hurdles all the "abled" guys have to get over, then we have to deal with "oh, I don't think I can deal with that". There may be many "Shallow Hal's" out there, but there are just as many "Shallow Helens", too!

The ability to find who we want, I believe, is greatly contingient upon how we perceive ourselves, to a large degree.

More obstacles than most, never-the-less... but hey, it has always been that... I am used to it...

I love me... and the who of me...
