My money's worth the paper it's printed on.

I pretend to work and they pretend to pay me.

Actually, burning the witches might not be such a bad idea. Heard they make lovely flames.

Was thinking about getting an Indiana license plate today. They have these neat blue things that say In God We Trust on them. don't know how we do it, but we do. It's a way to get a mention onto the car without resorting to a bumper sticker or some such.

Because it's optional, that's how they get away with it. Here in Alabama we have been 'graced' with the God Bless America tag. When I went to renew mine, here's the way it went:

Clerk: "I'm sure you'll want one of these new GBA tags!!?"
Me: "No thanks."
Clerk (stricken look on face): "Why not?!!"
Me: "Just the regular tag will be fine, thanks."
Clerk (voice shaking): "But, I don't understand why you wouldn't want the GBA tag!!!
Me: "Is it mandatory?"
Clerk: "Well....No."
Me: "Then give me the regular tag before you really piss me off."

I got the regular tag.

Obviously stepping out of bounds for her job I would say? Did you report the problem? Many Christians are irritated by that behavior also.

I'm glad it was not mandatory. It should not be.

The last church and state I went to were seperate to the best of my knowledge. I think the only place they're the same is Utah and Washington DC. Maybe Texas and some new age places in California, too.

Yeah, probably some of Potter's nasty professors deserve it, too. He has some bad news teachers and school mates, I think.

And that wicked witch of the North by Northwest. The one with the biplane!

They'll get you, my pretty!

Actually, it's kind of one to me. I follow it religiously, at any rate. Guess I'm just a political junkie.

I resent that.

And I thought you were a nice guy! ohwell Oh well.

No, no, you're just not supposed to "suffer a witch to live". Oh, wait...That's been proven to be a gross, premeditated mistranslation at the behest of James I.... It was the poisoners that were to be hunted down mercilessly and killed. Ohhhhhhh! Sorry about that witches! As you were.....Carry on.

That's very interesting, I would like to have more information about that mistranslation so I could publish it in our local newspaper for the local churches in my town ... (who would like to burn me at the stake for being a tarot card reader)

Weren't "poisoners" simply assassins back then? Today the "poisoners" would be the FDA and all their drugs with deathly side effects, and all the contaminated meat, and all the high fructose corn syrup in every freaking thing on the super market shelves.

Burn them at the stake now... LOLdrinker bigsmile

Here's a very good, evenhanded writeup, including the relationship with pharmakos:

http://www.draknet.com/proteus/Suffer.htm

There are many other articles with views from all directions, but the general consensus is held that since James I was paranoid about sorcery and having spells or curses placed upon him, and although the Hebrew term used is vague & ambiguous (rough etymology analysis leads to "one who uses herbs or compounds to kill another"), he ensured that it was translated as "witch".
