here we go again the same liberal socialist BS trying to use the exception to justify the rule. There is no doubt that war is hell the majority of those who have experineced it came home and went on with their lives. A few went off the deep end so based on the few, the majority get tarred with the same brush.

Dragoness, i respect your opinion. I for one am glad you are starting to listen to the soldiers' perspective. However, just take note, that most of the soldiers on the ground genuinely believe in what they are doing. We are all trying to make the best of a bad situation. In fact, most of the people that i heard complain about the conflict and just wanted us out are A) the ones that found an excuse to leave us early and B) are the ones that hardly ever went outside the wire. Once again out of the 170,000ish troops there are probably 20 or 30,000 that actually leave the wire and spend time on the streets. This is just something else to bear in mind when listening. But i do hear what you are trying to say.
Most may not agree why we went over there in the first place most agree that we are cleaning up a mess. You can't tell a soldier to go fight fight fight, then after he or she puts their blood, sweat and tears, after they lose friends, we cant stand up and tell them, "no, sorry. Not worth it. Your sacrifice is just a waste of time and money." Most of the soldiers want to look back and accomplish something. by us just pulling out immediately we will personally feel responsible the for genocide of millions. Not to mention we will be back over there give a couple years, killing the next tyrant. I've got no problems with phasing out but we have to be careful. Once the opposition knows we are leaving they will fight harder. Also, we need a well laid out plan of attack before making ANY move or we will risk blundering greatly. There are no simple answers to this problem. Every soldier, and/or strategist knows this. And to think a simple "bring the troops home" is the answer would be like using 2nd grade addition and subtraction to solve a calculus problem. |
