Jesus said this is the second greatest of God's laws...therefore, it trumps all other laws except one.

If that's true then why isn't it the second law of the ten commandments?

Was God not thinking clearly when he wrote the ten commandments?

It's not even on the list of the top ten laws at all.

Seems like a blatant inconsistency to me. The second greatest law of God doesn't even make it to the top ten list?

Have you read the 10 commandments?

Deuteronomy 5:16-21
16 Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, so that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

17 You shall not murder.

18 Neither shall you commit adultery.

19 Neither shall you steal.

20 Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbour.

21 Neither shall you covet your neighbour’s wife. Neither shall you desire your neighbour’s house, or field, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.

This is commandments 5 - 10. Seems like a pretty good plan for how to show love to your neighbors.

Nice try Spider, but that's hardly saying the same thing.

This is why they make most Bibles with soft covers. People love to twist the words all around. laugh

Abra
Good to see your comments. Yahshua said nothing new. They already new what he said and that it was spelled out alot more. For instance.

Lev 19:17-18

17'You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am Yahweh.
NKJV

This whole chapter is speaking to the people though. Yahshua did not bring anything new. He explained what the spiritual aspects were clearer because like the Religious Elite Today wants to tell you that you need to turn to them for understanding. When scripture says Turn Your Heart Towards Yahweh and He will Teach you.....more of this same OT chapter dealing with your nieghbor which are quite rightous laws if you apply them in todays society in thier rightful meaning.....

Lev 19:9-25

9'When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am Yahweh your Elohim. THIS IS WHAT yAHSHUA WAS CHARGED WITH ON THE SABBATH. YET HE WAS POOR AND HAD EVERY RIGHT.
11'You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another. 12 And you shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane the name of your Elohim: I am Yahweh.
13'You shall not cheat your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not remain with you all night until morning. WHO WOULDN'T LIKE THEIR WAGES EVERYDAY 14 You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shall fear your Elohim: I am Yahweh. THIS IS LOVING YOUR NIEGHBOR.
15'You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor. 16 You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am Yahweh. WAY BETTER LAWS THAN WE HAVE TODAY
17'You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am Yahweh. BE NICE IF WE DID NOT BEAR GRUDGES
19'You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you. WE CROSSBREED PLANTS ANIMALS AND SUCH AND DO WE REALLY KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING? WE TRY TO PRESERVE SO MUCH THAT WE SICKEN EACH OTHER AND PESTISIDES. YAHWEH IS TELLING US DO NOT DO THESE THINGS AND I BELIEVE HE IS RIGHT....
20'Whoever lies carnally with a woman who is betrothed to a man as a concubine, and who has not at all been redeemed nor given her freedom, for this there shall be scourging; but they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. EVEN THE CONCUBINE WAS LOOKED AFTER. 21 And he shall bring his trespass offering to Yahweh, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, a ram as a trespass offering. 22 The priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before Yahweh for his sin which he has committed. And the sin which he has committed shall be forgiven him.
23'When you come into the land, and have planted all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as uncircumcised. Three years it shall be as uncircumcised to you. It shall not be eaten. 24 But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, a praise to Yahweh. 25 And in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase: I am Yahweh your Elohim.
NKJV

I wonder if an agriculturists could explain why you wait on the fruit before you eat it.

Blessings of Shalom....Miles
