Ok, so a couple months ago i went to the doctor with chest pains, and he said he thinks it's pluerisy. however, x-rays were done and there were no signs of any problems with my lungs. and also no tests were done on my heart. now, i've been taking the meds he gave me and they've done nothing, and lately i've been worried because heart disease does run in my family. and i looked up "chest pains" on webmd.com and this is one of the results it gave me, and it's actually the exact same thing as what i'm going thru. does anybody have any experience with this or know someone who does so you can tell me if this is a problem or just something that goes away with time? i've had the symptoms for about 8 to 9 months now.

Wont really go away. Dr needs to give you some nitro. that will ease the pain when it occurs. what you are describing sounds like stable angina
|

Its kind of anxiety so don't worry,do yoga or meditation and cheer up

I think if I were you...id go back to the dr. and tell him that heart disease runs in your family..that you feel the pills he gave you are not working..and you want him to do heart tests to see if that is a possible problem...if he tells you he thinks in his opinon you shouldn't then tell him you will go to a dr. that will for a second opinion.

Self diagnosis is never recommended. Even doctors go to doctors. 2 .. (see #1) Go ask your doctor. Go to ER complaining of chest pains and they will run tests for heart. |

Im not sure JSH is the wisest place to ask for medical advice well, the way i look at it is webmd can only tell me so much, doctors are $%@#ing expensive (even with insurance), i figured i'd ask my peers and see if anyone has experience with this before i decide whether or not to go back to the hospital. |

Maybe heart, maybe not, if they haven't done a stress test, then you should probably have one. Is the doc you're going to a cardiologist? Maybe you should get a 2nd opinion. i was at work and the chest pains got so bad i collapsed so my supervisor took me to the hospital and a family doctor talked to me, took an x-ray, and gave me pills. |

sit back and take inventory.. what are some things that could be causing the anxiety.. youd be suprised. sudden change in lifestyle, bills, loss of someone, something, even your job.. |

my brother went throught the same thing... youd be suprised.. im not saying thats what it is... but often enough it is. and if you can stay away from the drugs its always better.. i know its not always possible tho.

You're really young for angina, but it's not impossible. You need to have a complete evaluation from a good MD. Don't mess around. I know it's expensive, but so are funereals. See a good internist (not a family MD and NOT an ER doc). If you don't know one, call your local hospital, ask for the medical staff secretary/office & get a recommendation. Say you want a board certified doc in either internal medicine or cardiology. |

JMO here but I think from the posts of yours Ive read here, its obviously causing concern..that in itself should be worth the trip back to the doctor and the money you have fork out.. I realize docs are expensive...but i would think at this point the peace of mind youll get or even another diagnosis whether its the same one youve got or a diffrent one is money well spent...good luck!!!
