Topic: I have a tendency to... | |

Say I'm Batman a lot...no, that isn't it.
Anyway, I have a tendency to lose a conversation as soon as something dramatic or tragic comes up. Up until this I can keep a conversation rolling smooth, but as soon as something along this comes up I am lost for words. The oddest thing about it is for the most part I've been through a lot more then most people, but my experiences haven't been theirs and that leaves me at a loss. Am I just at a loss for this situation or is it because I would rather not bring up my own experience with the situation? Pay no mind to the first sentence I was "breaking the ice"...or something. |

depending on what dramatic or tragic thing your talking about... sometimes I would rather people just listen and not say anything at all. Maybe you're just a good listener

i know what you mean people can be innocently talking about something a bam you think of something painful that you'd rather not think about.i just let it pass knowing that the person wasn't trying to bring bad memory up.the simplest things can be painful to someone who has gone through hard times

Take rape for instance, I can't relate to it on a personal level as in it happened to me but can in a personal level that it has happened to many of my friends...and that leaves me at a loss for comment on the issue. I am a good listener and pride myself on that ability, however it always seems as though one wants me to say the perfect words to make it alright...and I simply can't. |
