Topic: Spear Time | |
---|---|
Awhile back, I posted some snippets from actual profiles I found on another site; one of my favorites was posted by a Chicago school teacher who said she liked to work on cars in her "spear time."
OK, so that was pretty funny, a teacher making that kind of mistake -- but if you know anything about the Chicago Public School System, it's not at all hard to believe. Found another one last night who wrote "I'm a music teacher. My job keeps me too serious and too focused that's why in my spear time I like reading and why not from time to time to try different things." Apparently, teaching music -- being that it's an "international language" and all -- doesn't require any fluency in English. There was more, and it was just as butchered, but I don't want to belabor the point. And, in closing, here's one more complete profile, informative as all get-out, makes you feel like you lived next door to this person your entire life: "I'm a pretty laid back, down - to - earth girl. I'm just trying to live life and enjoy every moment i can." I'm tempted to ask "Where have you been all my life?" but then she would have to write more words. |

Lex, all teachers have "spear time". It's written into our contract. We have 190 contract days, each of which includes "spear time". You see, apparently, several of our bunch were getting bent out of shape that we had to use our "plan time" to sharpen our disciplinary spears.

Well in my spear time I like to stalk a certain person.............no names need to be mentioned!!! I'm all for it, as long as there are no actual spears involved....that's a point I'd rather not get.... But this whole thing made me think about the old Latin phrase "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" -- who watches the watchmen? By the same token, "Quisnam magister magister?" -- who teaches the teachers? Because if the teachers themselves are unable to function with their own language, how can they ever teach that language to their students? |

Ask me. WTH?? lol Or, to busy to write now, but I might have more time later. So if you want to. You can come back and read what I will have to tell you then. It might take me about a week or two to find the time I will need to create into words what kind of person I am. LOL Seen one here once that said. Im not here to find anyone, I have a GREAT GUY. I don't need any friends I have plenty. Im just here because a friend asked me to join. Point well taken Lex. You could send your comments to the Chicago Public School System
But wait .. maybe not. They might not understand what you are trying to say |

It is entirely possible, and maybe even probable... that somewhere along the line this woman read a line right here in the JSH forums that said, "Geesh. Why get all bent out of shape over spelling? We all know what people mean, why make a big deal out of it"...
Or maybe she saw it in a vedo move and took it to hart.... |

Cool stuff Lex. I like to read in their profile intro. Ask me. Terry, that's one of my personal favorites. "Anything you want to know about me, you'll have to ask." OK, fine, but you haven't given me a damn thing to ask about. So.... Or, to busy to write now, but I might have more time later. So if you want to. You can come back and read what I will have to tell you then. It might take me about a week or two to find the time I will need to create into words what kind of person I am. I see a lot of "I hate filling these things out" and "I don't know what to write here" profiles. In that case, maybe they shouldn't bother signing up because it's obviously too difficult to write three paragraphs about themselves. But again, where is my incentive to want to know anything about this person? Seen one here once that said. Im not here to find anyone, I have a GREAT GUY. I don't need any friends I have plenty. Im just here because a friend asked me to join. Yeah, I think that's how MySpace got 47 billion people on there. "My friend told me this was a cool place so I thought I would check it out. Oh look, there are cardboard cutouts everywhere, it's like being in a wax museum only it's all cardboard instead of wax, so maybe they won't all melt when the sun comes out." Proper English isn't dead, it just smells funny. |

My absolute favorite is "write more latr".... that really touches me. The first time I ever saw that was in "Atlas Shrugged" -- Dagny's quick note to Hank -- I almost cried. Seeing it in a profile -- I mean, seeing it as a profile -- brings back such bittersweet memories.... |
