The Mythical Tradition Bar

In the midst of the barren wastelands, beneath the midst and the fog,
Surrounded by nothing but emptiness, is a door made out of log.
No building accompanies this door, just a knob, some wood, and a frame.
And if you were to turn the handle, you'll be where no human has ever came.

If you knock, will it open? Is their a secret code to know?
Or is this a one man operation? Where everyone just comes and goes?
With a step that lacks any flourish, and with eyes that glaze in the light,
You step through the doorway, with your eyes clenched closed tight.

And laughter meets your eardrums, and voices hit your brain,
You look around... It's a party! Your trepidation starts to wane.
The door closes behind you, shutting off the barren lands,
And then your caught up in the dancing, from the music by the band.

Then you're given exotic beverages, and you eat exotic food,
Till you're mind is spinning with ecstasy, and you're in a happy mood.
And you're smiling, and you're laughing, and you're caught up in the gale,
But soon your legs grow tired, and you have to sit a spell.

So you find yourself a seat and settle down to take a rest,
And you turn yourself in subtle ways until you fit just best.
And when you've finally gotten yourself, as comfortable as can be.
You look around at all the guests, and are amazed by what you see.

The Smurfs are dancing on a table, and Jill is eating with cold Jack Frost,
A Unicorn group is singing on stage, Joe Camel and Superman are getting
sauced.
It's the hang out of everyone, who has claim to being a star,
In the imaginary world of human beings, It's the Mythical Tradition Bar.

It's the place for those who own a day, that comes but once a year,
Of superstars in cartoon worlds, any fables that humans truly hold dear.
Mother goose is here, doing a jive, her dog is losing at 5 card poker,
Little Red Riding Hood is teasing the wolf, who's secretly in love with her.

But when you happen to look, at the table that's on the stage,
You can't believe who's sitting there, fresh right off the page!
The three main guys in this here world, being kings by popularity...
Is Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and wouldn't you know it, Saint Patty.

Santa is drinking eggnog, the Easter bunny chocolate milk,
And Saint Patty has a larder filled, of beer as smooth as silk.
They're telling stories of long ago, sharing jokes they've heard before,
Having themselves one hell of a time, and are looking forward to plenty
more.

Now, if you had been here an hour ago, you would have seen an elf,
Spiking Santa's drinks with whiskey, so he wouldn't be himself.
But lucky for you you got here, and right in the nick of time,
Because Santa Claus is now stinking drunk, and starting to drop the dime.

You watch as he looks at Saint Patty, and then the Easter bunny,
Then he turns around and spits on the ground, and says,
Them Easter eggs of yours ain't so damn funny...

The Easter bunny, who was really shocked, went on to hear him say,
Exactly why he hated him, and how he rued Easter Day.
He said that come Easter time, when folks heads were full of cotton.
That the chimney was a common place, for an Easter egg to be forgotten.

And that Chimney fires, in those few months, could turn an egg around,
And the worse sound that he'd ever heard, was the crack of an egg on his way

down.
Cause the smell released from a rotten egg, would make your hair turn white,
And his fingers had flown to the side of his nose, and he'd soared out into
the night.

Then it was three lonely miles back to the sleigh, with a terrible haunting
memory.
And when he was finally done with his tale, he looked over to Saint Patty.
Who's voice had rung out loud and clear, in protest to the assault,
He'd yelled and screamed and threatened death, that it wasn't the rabbits
fault.

And old Saint Nick just squinted his eyes, and stared the Leprechaun down,
Then off about Saint Patrick's Day, Chris Cringle went to town.
With a story that could hardly be believed, if not told with such contempt,
As Saint Patty stood back aghast, at the wave of anger Santa sent.

Then Santa went on to tell, how he sent his clothes, to the Fresh Clean
Machine,
And that Patty's clothes had gotten mixed in, and turned all his to green.
And that at Christmas time, going house to house, for all the world to see,
He'd come sailing down the chimney shoot, looking like a Christmas tree.

And how the children had laughed at him, and oh, how cruel, and oh, how
mean,
One kid had called him the Jolly Green Giant, another a Lima bean.
Now way way over, in the very far corner, sat the elf, with a grin on his
chin,
And he couldn't help but laugh out loud, but it was lost in all the din.

He licked his lips and winked an eye, staring at the three,
They would all destroy themselves, and then everyone would see.
How he could make a mighty king! A fair and judicial ruler...
And they would all worship him, and his wrath they would inure.

Now everyone else had stopped dancing, not a move did anyone make,
All eyes were on the threesome, who weren't giving any take.
Saint Patty's heart was a fire, his day had been hit low,
And the Easter bunny was dawning gloves, ready to throw the first blow.

Now the only one out of everyone, that knows what's going on,
Is the human being in the corner, who doesn't really belong.
It's you my friend, look close, it's true, and then listen to what I say,
Step inside to the Mythical bar, and help to save the day.

And what the human did is beyond belief! Never forgotten to this day,
You stepped into the light of the room, and imagined them all away.
Silence existed everywhere, not a soul as far as the eye could see,
Everyone was gone, except for the you, standing alone, silently.

Everyone had seen you enter ... and everyone had known you were there,
Why, remained the question, with no one an answer to share.
The only human who had ever been here, and didn't even seem to know why,
Not knowing it's mission, it took on it all, so our dreams wouldn't die...

And now from the far corner, where he'd been hiding from it all,
The elf stepped forward, and your name he started to call.
And he begged of your forgiveness, and pleaded how sorry he was,
That he never knew he'd end Traditions, and he was sorry now because,

All the music had stopped, and all the smiles had went away,
The voices had suddenly disappeared, and now in silence everything lay.
That all his friends were gone, and he was lonely, through and through,
And he was sorry, oh he was sorry, and was there anything you could do?

And now, standing in the loneliness, you start imagine again,
Of Santa, who is happy, and Easter Bunny, with it's bashful grin.
Of everyone who had ever shined, in your dreams at night,
All happy once again, not even wanting to fight.

Then the door suddenly flew open, and the room began to fill,
With every guest who had been there, down to Captain Bill.
And even a few of your own, who in your life had played a part,
And everyone is happy, and again, the dancing beings to start.

Now you look towards the door, and a path leads back to home,
And you quickly take your leave, no longer time to roam.
And you won't forget what you have seen, and what you had to do?
Cause when you finally stop believing, do they stop believing in you?

With Equescent thoughts...

"Frozenchild", I want to thank you for your honest and cool replys to my poems. When I read this poem of yours and a few others, I've come to the opinion that you are not only a poet, but you have the gift of prose, like a novel, very descripive, each poem original in style, with inspiration but you use the tools of imagination very well.

peace out
jimmy
