"The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett is a MUST READ!

I bought this adult fiction novel 2 weeks ago and I could not put it down! I love it! It has soon to become the best book I had ever read. I will soon buy the sequal!

Has anyone else read it???

If you haven't look it up in your library, or you can purchase a paperback copy for about $16.00

It takes place in the middle ages. It looks into society back then...and we say "wwhats wrong with people thses days?"....geez, its very colorfull portrayal of life back then. It focuses on how poor masons & builders would construct these huge beautiful cathedrals with crude tools...gives more of the history behing the great buildings that stand today. The is a lot of crimes, passions, love, hatred, people vs. religion.....very action packed! && great characters you can relate to.

A fabulous read; I read it about 5 years ago. It's very long but well worth the time. Probably the only book I've ever read that uses cathedral building as a plot device. I have read 5 or 6 more of his since. I really liked his Code to Zero and The Hammer of Eden, too.

I ran across this book through serendipity...I started dragging it everywhere with me & people would tap me on the shoulder saying "Great Read!" Made me feel dumb I hadn't heard of it before or seen it advertised. So I had to put in a plug...word of mouth. I rarely have patience to read a novel over 500 pages anymore...so to double that HAS to be a GREAT book.

Im getting his sequal next.

If you like his writing you should look up "A Dangerous Fortune". That's one of my all time favorite. Stay away from "Whiteout" though. It's the only book of his I've ever read that just didn't make sense. I mean the story line and everything was fun, but there were so many contradictions I was wondering if it was the same guy. And "The Key to Rebecca" is a really good one too. He's one of my favorite authors. I recommend him all the time.
