You were the stars that shone for me at night

When you decided to go your own way
I thought as a friend you'd try to stay
But I was wrong and I let you leave alone.
I think of you and the smile you gave
Keeping you here, I thought I would save
A memory of happiness once known.

I was so wrong to hold you so near
But in my heart your memory's dear,
For even you can't deny what we shared.
Just for a moment so much felt so right
Till I left you walk into the night
But that never changed the way for you that I cared.

Someday you'll be open and share your sweet heart
With someone so true that never will part

I have no regrets for the time that you gave.

It is much better to not suffer what's lost
