if you feel God has turned his back on you and losing faith? I have had many opinions from churches. Most say to pray...but what if you have prayed for non selfish...good things and nothing happens?

I figured this would be the place to ask.

I'm not sure I understand, but here are some possiblities.

1. Non-selfish does not mean Godly. Perhaps you are praying for something which God does not view as an ultimate good for your life.

2. Spiritual warfare. Daniel 10 gives an example of spiritual warfare, I suggest you take a look at that. Simply put, demons have the authority to prevent your prayers from being answered, so as to challenge your faith.

If this doesn't help or if you need more information, feel free to email me at any time, I will do my best to get back to you ASAP.

I respect everyone's beliefs and faith. Ty to everyone for input. I just don't think I explained the situation very well

This is meant in the most positive way possible. I think you have received many good answer's here. (I personally think that if you put many people together and ask them for information you get close to the voice of God) Anyway, It looks like from your response here you already had an answer in mind when you asked the question. I think that may be a trap you are falling into in life. It just doesn't seem to go the way we want, the best thing to do is like the place we are.

not at all. it was just a question

a question i have had to ask from time to time
is 'have i turned my back on God' in those times
when He feels far away.
have i grown lax in some areas ?
am i doing all i can do, or am i just waiting for
God to swoop in to the rescue?
inevitably...yes, sometimes.

If you're not reading the word, praying, going to church and taking communion, you'll feel like you're losing touch with the Lord. If you don't have a personal relationship with the Lord, you need to publicly confess Jesus as lord and be baptized by immersion asap. Contact me or your local Christian church for details. There is also excellent material on this in a chapter called "When God Seems Distant" in Rick Warren's The Purpose Filled Life (the book should be in your local Wal Mart). Good luck to you. I'll pray that God continues to give you the desire to draw close to him and that you find results real quickly.

When you really think about it without the hurt. Use the logical side of yourself, just for a moment. If you feel further away from God, who do you think moved?
