I understand why I can't send messages to someone who limits themselves to age groups, or other restrictions (male only, not married, etc..) But how come even after that person adds me (and I add them) as my friend.. I still can't send them messages.. am I the only one that wants to send my friend a message but can't?

request to be a friend again tell the person that u cant message them if they message u can reply other than that u cant do anything

The only way to get messages from a person who has restrictions enabled is for them to message you, and then "reply" to their message. That's about the only way to keep corresponding with someone who you won't otherwise be able to correspond with.
