Thats my question too, what now? will his brother be like him or will his brother bring change to Cuba? Only time will tell.

I think Raul will be pretty much the same, maybe not quite as bad, but he is 76 & can't last forever! Raul is generally reported to be a far more pragmatic figure than Castro. I doubt that this will end Communism in Cuba, but it may lead to a loosening of the crazy policies which have driven up the cost of goods. |

Maybe they'll finally end the embargo and start shipping Cuban cigars here. The immediate consensus among most political figures was that this would still be a long ways off. There are signs of loosening the death grip on the poor, but not too many indications that their human rights record will improve. Hence, don't hold your breath for an end to the embargo. |
