You would have to understand my concept of God to understand my viewpoint on Joshua. ( Point: If Joshua's God was "all powerful," he would not have needed to enlist mere mortals to do the killing for "him." ) That's true and false. God can do anything without our help. But God allows us free will, to serve him or not. If the Israelites would do what was necessary to take the promised land from the Canaanites, was a test. Just as when Christians talk about the war in heaven and how Satan was cast out of heaven...God didn't cast Satan out, the angels did. God tested the angels to see if they would continue to serve him, even if it meant fighting with their brothers. In any situation where a mortal or angelic agent can accomplish the task, those agents are used, so that they are tested. By testing, God helps us to grow stronger in faith, wisdom and experiance. Without testing, we would stagnate intellectually, emotionally and morally. As happened many times in the Old Testament, when people are blessed and never tested, they eventually fall away from God. |

Well then I guess you have it all figured out. Jeannie P.S. This has been a test. |

Why do you believe that Joshua existed? Why do you believe that the Israelites actually killed anyone? What are you basing those beliefs on?
You make a very good point. The truth is I do not know if Joshua existed at all. The whole story could be false. I express my opinion about the story hypothetically. I give people the benefit of my doubt. I usually begin by saying: "Assuming this story of this battle and conquest is true....., lets look at how it might have happened in a logical manner. So I don't really know if it is true or not. I know there were a lot of battles back then, it may be one of them. I am simply considering the information. That is what I do with all information. I do not believe or disbelieve it. I consider it. Jeannie |

Like I said. It makes no sense to believe part but not all. It is all or nothing when it comes to the (Original (old) testament) Bible.
Who told you that? As I said, I do not believe or disbelieve anything. I consider information. P.S. Some information seems more feasible or reasonable than others, so I do have two catagories: May be "true" and Probably is not accurate or "true" |
