To all the parents out there that struggle to deal with problem children but refuse to give up on them, you deserve
My mother put up with alot and when it was suggested that it was too much for her to handle, she fought even harder. I was not a bad child, just had alot of mental problems. I was raped 7 times and my mother was always there for me. through the nightmares and the waking up at 3 am to console me, the counseling, the hospitalization and the suicide attempts. When she was told that i would most likely become an offender she refused to believe it. I am now 31 years old and have never touched someone inappropriately. My mom believed in me and that helped me more than anything else. I will always love my mom, she did what people told her she wouldn't be able to. Raised 3 children by herself, with a broken back and one leg. So when people ask who my hero is, i proudly say My Mom! So to all the parents out there, never give up on them. Sometimes you'd be amazed at what you can get back from the problem child you stood by. |

But, I do understand what you're saying about moms. Mine was not just my hero,but my best friend. I try to be as good a mom to my kids, but I know I can't ever really live up to this standard. It's nice to hear a guy say such nice things about his mom. I have 2 boys (21 & 18) & I only hope they can say as much about me someday. |
