For some reason lying seems to be easier in the short run but bites hard in the long run. I am not sure why they feel like they need to lie. This goes for male and female though, ladies tell some whoppers too.

I hear ya.. and certainly wish you better luck. However.. invoking your will in an effort to make the dishonest be honest... probably is not the best way to go about this.

Sure! Dishonesty sucks. It is a constant temptation in all people. Easier, more frequent and elaborate in some of us... But we all have the ability to do it..and unless Sainted or the second coming.. practice it. People who believe they are entirely above it? By my experience... Tend to be the worst when falling for the temptation in areas of their lives where it is the least appropriate.

Dishonesty is just part of our existance. An annoying one, I'll grant you... But.. It can also be a great way to help define the A-holes that will inevitable cross my path in life. So.. I welcome it, when it happens. Give them enough rope, so to speak.. Then move on relatively quickly, without regret.
