When a family member or other loved one gets hurt, it can be pretty scary.
I have an older friend who is a combat veteran from WW2. He described it thusly, "The fear one has when a family member gets drasitically ill or seriously hurt is overwhelming. That's because there is NOTHING I can do about it. At least when I was being shot at, I could shoot back. Hell, I'd rather be shot at every day, and all day Sunday, than have something bad happen to my wife or kids." That's some seriously deep stuff right there. |
