I have a student loan, but apparently, they haven't been paying enough. And on the bottom of the letter, it says, "YOUR PARENTS CANNOT HANDLE THIS FOR YOU!". Also, they won't answer the phone :(

Have you talked to Student Housing? My son got a paper stating that we were behind BUT when I talked to them, his loan had already kicked in and it was payed.

Nah, just got the paper under the door today. I'll probably talk to them on Tuesday when I'm free.

I'm officially f**ked. My credit expired, so one of my student loans isn't going through. That means I have to reapply, and hope everything goes through before I get kicked out of student housing. If I don't, not only do I owe the school the $1,525 outstanding balance, but I ALSO have to pay $1,000 for breaking the lease. I miss being a kid.

talk to people at school - especially student housing and look for some kind of counseling to help handle the situation. these things can always be restructured if you get timely help.

ask your RA if you have one or someone in the Dean's office also. had a friend who got a part-time job from the college which helped him get through school.

if all fails however then you can always take some time off, re-apply for aid or even at a cheaper school.

but i'm betting that if you can speak with someone at student housing and get steered to the appropriate administrator that they can simple work out a payment plan with you.

best of luck - my sincere advice is to forget phone and email and just show up at their offices to ask for help in person. it is much much more likely to help you get the assistance you need - do it in person!!

My roommate is having the same problem as me. The main problem is that even if I DO manage to reapply for the loan, it won't go through in time for me to be able to stay in student housing. Thus, I'll probably have to do the most embarrassing thing in the world. Go back and live with my parents for a quarter, and try to get a part-time job there until I can come back. Hopefully I can request my old roommate back and stay in the same apartment. That would be nice. And who knows? That might be the best thing for me to do. Hell, I could take a bus to Chicago if I really felt like going to see my friends.
