The Note

Just today I got your small note
Full of sadness, yet there was still hope.
I felt the tears you cried while alone.
I caught them, dear, in my heart made of stone.
I felt your confusion and sensed your great pain
And prayed to God for blessings to rain.
You may be my friend, but I love you so dear
Wishing this day, I could hold you so near.
Wanting to keep you from all your bad days
Never you'll know, that's what I pray.
I sent you a flower and verse as a gift,
You gave me a smile as I gave you a lift.
My thoughts turn to you, in your moment of strife
Reminding you gently, I'm here in your life.
So smile for me when tears threaten to fall
I'll wipe them away whenever you call.
