And people keep asking me why I am going for my teaching degree devil

Seriosuly though, I do nt look at age as a general rule. As logn as they are of legal age to choose, I dont worry about it. I tend to stay within about 5-10 years either side, but have been known to date someone twenty years older, and one who is almost fifteen years younger (she was eighteen I am 32).

Well according to my Chinese horoscope, my perfect mate is either 4 years older or 4 years younger than I am. (And Chinese?)

All depends on how mature they are.

Someone five years younger means dating a 19 year old. I don't think I'd want to..... Five years older, a 29 year old guy.. yeah, that'd be great! Oldest I went was 11 years. I was 20, he was 31. Yum! (=

Key word I see from you guys is "maturity", which is what we all want. However, people can be mature about some things while being immature about others. So, allow me to elaborate on this.

You want someone, regardless of age, who is going to be mature when it come to communication and the ability to function within a relationship. One would assume that an 18 year old girl and a 30 year old guy would not have alot in common (which I feel would be true). Still, it does not mean that the 18 year old girl is just an immature brat. Hell, the 30 year old man could be immature for his age. Thing is, you just never know who is going to click together. Majority of the time, an age difference of 10 years or more will more than than likely not work. My parents have a 10 year age difference between them, and this year will be there 30th wedding anniversary. So, it can work.

Basically, you want to find someone that you connect with. Someone that you can talk to, have intelligent conversations, goof off with, be intimate with, and build something with. If that person happens to be 5, or 10 or more years younger than you, then go for it. I have never believed that you have to find someone who is near your age range. You just never know who you will meet if you don't put a tight restriction when it comes to age. Currently, I am involved with a woman who is younger than me, and right now, I can see things developing quite nicely. It was amazing how well we connected and all, and not once did our age difference come to my mind. Nor did it hers. Bottom line here......age should not be something that makes you say, "Well, she is nice, but I have an age limit of 5 years older or younger, and she is out of it, so no go....even though there is potential." I just find this silly.

I'd definitely not want to date a girl who couldn't buy my beer. I'm just funny that way.

I feel young for my actual age, although I am mature in most respects. I was looking at a man's profile where his requirements were a woman 40 to 50 years old. This lets me out as I am 58. The funny part was this man was 52 years old. Yet a 52 year old woman was too old for his requirements. I wonder why he would exclude a woman the same age as him.

Some of you who are being too specific could be missing out on some really nice women or men. I was once asked if I was open to dating younger men, and I responded that I considered the character more than the age. But when I asked him what his age was, he said he was 18. (He thought that an older woman could teach him something.) I told him that when I think of a younger man I am thinking about age 35 at the very least, but even that is stretching it for a long term relationship. I don't want to adopt you and I don't want to "teach" you either.

When I expand my age limit interests to younger men and find a man I think I would really like, I then have to wonder if his youth and vigor would be too much for me to keep up with... so its back to looking for someone closer to my own age. I think health and fitness plays a big part in it too.

If dated that much younger, I'd end up on dateline, or doing 3-25 noway
