That is the way spyware and anti virus companies stay in business. They
each call things by different names. Then they only detect certain ones.
Having a good anti virus program and updating it regular is a good
practice. However you may find that you need several Spyware tools to
stay running smoothly. I personally use Adaware Professional and spybot
s & d as well as the microsoft anti spyware software that is free
online. Yes you read right something from microsoft that is actually
free hard to believe I know but atleast when I got it the program was
free think it still may be.

Good morning sunshine sushi. I rarely have any issues with pop ups with
the pop up blockers out today that are free as well. The one I use for
that is actually the google toolbar as I do web design as well here and
it helps me track site ratings. as far as turning it off while we may
all have issues with being on too long at a given time all you have to
do to turn it off is click start,Turn off computer,Turn off computer
again and wait a few seconds it should power down itself.

I uised to get them like many people but have not gotten any in a long
time trojans and such aren't too bad, you want something really, really
bad get yourself a good rootkit, then you got problems. Another good
program that I have not seen mentioned here is called highjackthis, it's
a good useful utility for getting rid of BHO dll files, also called
Browser Helper Objects or Browser HighJacker Objects, hence the name
highjackthis....It also helps to get rid of things that are running
invisibly in the background
