I dated a woman 16 years older (24 and 40), but I generally prefer younger. Only because I won't date anyone with kids, and the older ones always seem to have them. For me, it's more about reproductive demographics than "age," per se.

Hence the name. But younger is the way to go. Last guy I went out with that was older than me wanted to go home after dinner (and I mean to sleep). Nope, younger for me.

I've gone 15 years older. I think it's a bigger challenge when you're younger (18-20's) because you're at different stages in life.
