I was flipping through channels and landed on The 700 Club. I have seen it everyonce in a while and from what I have seen is that they promice a miricle if you send them money. I have seen on air "examples" of how when someone gave a large donationa and soon after they suddenly are healed from what ever illness that they had. Today there was an example of how a man was 100's of thousands of dollars in debt, so they sent The 700 Club 100's of dollars of their money when neither had a job. Now after they sent the money in, some how both of them got minimum wage jobs, because of the donation. So I guess you can now buy miricles from God.

Now if this weren't enough I decided to see what "charity" work they do with God's money. Apperantlly their mission statement is to prepare the united states for the next comming of christ. And all the money that The 700 Club gets goes into the company and never comes out. Its not tracable and they never make where the money goes public.

Well thats enough ranting for now.

I never really did get into that show...but then, I don't get into any religious shows/movies/literature/etc when it is intended to be preachy rather than informative (like...about a history of a religion from an unbiased pov...neither for nor against)

I tried watching the 700 Club once, before I knew what it was, and ended up changing the channel about 10 minutes into it. It's one of those "eye roll" programs for me, personally....so I just don't watch it.

However, a lot of people really do like those programs and for some people they do work. Personally, I believe it's more "power of suggestion" than anything else. The couple sent in $100 believing it would work...so therefore they started looking for work more actively/harder, believing that their donation was going to help them find a job. Because of that, it gave them increased confidence and helped them interview at more jobs...so naturally they were able to find a job.

Now, because they were on hard times and their confidence had taken a hard hit (not to mention the stress from everything piling up around them) so they probably were not at their best for interviewing and were passed up for people more confident...had the couple not made the donation they wouldn't have bumped their confidence and probably would have struggled for some time until they found a job.

Just my personal opinion on things like that...I don't call them miracles, but I believe that the power of suggestion can, in some cases, prove beneficial. :)

I get the power of suggestion, but that doesn't make it right to take money away from people that need it.

no it doesn't. And it would be better if they were actually doing something constructive with that money, rather than pocketing it. However...it's justlike those "work from home" schemes...no one makes you invest in it. But one would think that with it being a church type thing, something would come from it rather than buying the pastor's cadillac, house, furniture etc etc etc. (to generalize...naturally, I have no idea what the money is being spent on, but based upon what you said...it isn't going where it's supposed to be going.)

I do get the good that they do, but I hate to see people get brain washed. I see it in so many things, and it is just so perverse to do that to people in the name of God.
