I buried my dad after he smoked for 35 years... I wouldn't date anyone that smokes that much. Nope.

So very true. My dad smoked for 35 years and is probably more healthy than me and many younger people I know. That and my great grandmother smoked untill she died at the ripe old age of 90! Oh and she died of natural causes and had realatively healthy lungs. Its not the smoke, its the person and how weak they are, physically. If your gonna die from smoking, chances are you were gonna die early anyway from some other disease.

I don't know that I could... My parents both smoked for over 40 years, and I see what damage that has done to them. I don't know that I could be in a long-term relationship with someone knowing what was going to happen to them and how hard that'd be later on down the road. Oh please, we all die from something. We all wilt the same. But there are some things you die from by choice, and some you don't. |

I'm a former smoker and the smell really gets to me. It would probably only work if they were willing to quit.

Well I am a smoker myself and I think everyday about quitting. I live in Northeastern NJ and I hang out in NYC a lot (where you cant smoke inside anymore) Ill be on a date and have to leave the table to go outside and smoke and it makes me feel like an outcast. It seems the majority of women on this site and many others do not smoke. Which I guess Im feeling guilty about. I guess I developed this bad habit to hide the fact that I am a pothead and after doing a hit of weed when I used to live with my parents I would smoke a cigarette to hide the smell. Which I still do now that I have my own place. I need to stop this old bad habit!

I often smoke around people just because they give me the "OMG he is a smoker, gross" look, so I blow it their way. You wanna quit, more power to you, seriously but do it for you and you alone not because You feel as if you'll "fit in" better. If they dont like it, they can suck a big one as far as I am concerned. |

I'd have a hard time dating a smoker. I smoked for 35 years and finally quit a couple years ago. Cigarettes still smell too damn good to me.

I'm trying to quit for the third time, 2yrs ago I stopped for 9 months, Nov. 2007 stopped for 30 days , Jan 2008 3 days smoke free. I would consider dating a smoker, he just wouldn't be able to have that after sex cig in the bedroom
. I work with the public and I can smell the smoke on people that I never even knew that smoked, that smell just gets everywhere. I wouldn't count a smoker out who knows he might be the 1, just would want to be around when he had his smoke.

I saw what smoking did to my Mom's health.
She died at 70. Smoker's will justify the habit by saying we all are going to die of something. This is true. I can just think of better ways to die. Personally I'd rather have a quick and easy heart attack during a Hot love making session.
