I admit my bias because of the apartheid issue, but I still don't see it. History shows the Iranians waiting for Carter to leave office. It's a shame though everybody turned against Carter in the government, while we do need force once in a while it is nothing without diplomacy. But back to Reagan, he still definatly did more harm than good. Regardless of his support for the Apartheid system in south Africa he enabled Saddam to gas the Iranians and the Kurds as well did he enable Osama to become what he became. Better than Clinton? I don't think so, Clinton was the one who put together the team to hunt Osama, even tried to bomb him but missed. Seems most hardline conservatives today have forgotten that;^] Were you sleeping while all of that was happening? Clinton blew up an aspirin factory and called it a day. He had bigger things to deal with at the time than to go after a possible threat. Reagan and Hussein? The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I don't remember reading anywhere that Saddam came a' callin' to ask permission to gas the Kurds. Carter..... remember the gas shortage? As far as diplomacy and force go, Carter was a spineless liberal. A pie in the sky guy with no sense of reality in my opinion. The world knew that. The Soviet Union collapsed. They were on the brink for some time and our tit for tat equality build up turned into a sprint for the finish and we won. Reagan simply out spent them. |

And we also went into a recession because of his uncontroled spending, we all remember how well the star wars missle defense system works. And for the Kurds, Reagan enabled it by allowing us to sell them the weapons. But again, really my opnion on Reagan boils down to Apartheid, his support for the Apartheid system was appalling, refering to Mandela and his followers as "terrorists", in my humble that's worse than anything Clinton ever did, who btw was still the one who put priority on hunting Osama. Too bad Bush put it on the back burner and ignored memoes entitled "Bin Laden determined to attack the US". I still say Reagan was Blanco Diablo;^]

Man, you are all over the board! Take one issue at a time please. Less room for sidestepping the facts from either side of the aisle. Check this link for your answers on the recession and a bit on Iran. It is VERY interesting. Not all good or all bad but factual.
