Should you call the guy first after the first date or wait for him to call you?...ladies do you think that the guys should call us first? guys do you think the ladies should call first?...how soon is too soon to call?

Depends on how well the date went.

Society dictates that the man should, but who cares? If the date went really well, either should be able to call first.

I always feel obligated to call after a first date... It's part of my 'Gender' role... notice that Sex and Gender are two different things... Sex being the bodyparts you were born with and Gender being your 'actions' like cooking and cleaning are the women's Gender role while watching football and drinking beer are the guys' :) j/k j/k

I don't think there are any rules on this thing and if we act with our hearts and want to be with somebody, who cares! Pick up the phone. Male or female. Not picking up the phone or thinking it was too soon is called games, people. And I know how many of us on this site write about no playing games and then be damned if they're playing this phone game.

Again it would depend on how the date went. I think the guy should make the first call though.

I always call and let them know I enjoyed the date, I think after all the trouble they went through for the date, it is the least I could do. I am not a phone hound though so it is a quick call and it ends.

That's assuming the guy did all the planning/paying. Sometimes I'm the one to do it (I really quite enjoy being the one to treat!) so in your logic then the guy should call.

I agree with the person who said the phone thing is a game...if you say you're not into 'games' then screw who's turn it is to call or how long to wait. If you wanna call, call. If the other person is freaked out with how soon it is or if you're the one to call first, that's their deal.

I always like to wait it out and let him call me. The way society is today if a woman makes the first call she appears "desperate" or "clingy". If I'm into someone, I usually give them my number and wait and see what kind of impresson I made. To me, this lets him know that I'm independent, not needy, and if he doesn't want to call me then I'm not going to worry about it.

When I'm getting a call from a guy, I think 2 days is a good amount of time. If it's done right, a call before that or after is not bad, either. For example, my current boyfriend called me not that long after we left one another to make sure I got home alright because it was late. He waited a few days, then sent me a text to say he really enjoyed meeting me, then we talked and set up a second date. Of course that wasn't the only thing that grabbed my attention, but he really played his cards well, which made things very smooth and easy.

I think it doesn't matter ... those rules usually either mess up your own mind or mess up the relationship. I'd say just be natural ... if you feel confident and comfortable calling, then call.

We, as humans, seek validation from everyone. Women get hit on all the time. Rarely do women approach men. Society dictates men are supposed to be the initiator. I don't think guys see it as a victory. It's more of a confidence boost that they did something right after they probably spent the whole time worrying about not doing anything "wrong".
