A friend of mine,
The other day,
Told me a story,
Of love her way.

She spoke of love,
And when she found,
That dream we seek,
Of love so sound.

She told of how,
She told of when,
She fell in love,
With her best friend.


They spent their time,
Walks under the sun,
They talked together,
They had much fun.

The times they had,
They spent together,
They laughed, they joked,
Even through stormy weather.

Then one day,
She looked across,
The table she sat,
Found what she lost.

The love she knew,
From long ago,
Sat across the table,
This, she did know.

She never saw it,
Before like this,
This love she saw,
She gave a kiss.


They married later,
A year or so,
She told me this story,
Her face, all a glow.
I don’t know how,
I don’t know when,
If ever at all,
I find that friend.

A story of love,
A story of strife,
Has made me think,
Of my own life.

To call you friend,
And could you be,
That dream of love,
Of this we’ll see.
