This pantheistic thing you mentioned though, i've never heard of it and will look into it further.

Well, like I say, pantheism isn’t actually a religion ‘per say’. It’s more of a philosophical view that all is one. Some people who have pantheistic views don’t even like using the word, “god”.

For example, Hinduism hold pantheistic views, yet at the same time their religion has become quite dogmatic. They do seem to assign various ‘gods’ to things. I confess to not having a firm knowledge of the religion. However, their underlying philosophy is that all is one (even all their seemingly separate gods are actually manifestations of a single entity). So Hinduism itself as a religion can be quite dogmatically detailed.

I tend to steer away from any religion that contains detailed dogma or doctrines. Buddhism, on the other hand is a bit less dogmatic, and some even claim that it’s not a ‘religion’ at all, but rather a philosophy. It is still based on the same principle that all-is-one. There is a single spirit that pervade everything.

Taoism has a similar underlying philosophy, but again, it can be quite complex in dogma, especially with respect to regional cultures. Once those dogma are instilled into the religion then it becomes increasingly ‘mandmade’.

Many American Indian tribes had pantheistic views. That nature is ‘god’ or ‘spirit’ and that there is ‘spirit’ in everything and that everything is ‘spirit’. They also spoke of the “Great One”, but this was meant more in terms of being the totality of all that exists, rather than as a separate Santa Claus type of entity.

So, as you can see, the pantheistic view of reality has quite a large spectrum and is the foundational principle in many different religions.

In fact, there are even the ‘scientific pantheists’ who simply regard the universe as being all there is, and that we are all a part of this larger thing. They simply don’t assign it any mystical or spiritual qualities. Or at least if they do, they don’t refer to that as “god”. In other words, pantheism can even be a view that is compatible with atheism of sorts. The universe is all there is, we are part of it, and that’s that.

So there are lots of choices with respect to spirituality and pantheism.

My personal choice is probably along the lines of what the Native American Indians believe (Sitting Bull in particular) and/or along the lines of Buddhism. But I don’t adhere to anything dogmatically. I simply don’t believe in dogmatic religions. I prefer to just believe in spirituality and let it be whatever it is.

The bottom line for me is that I am part of something larger, I cannot be separated from it, it is eternal and therefore so am I. So I believe in the spiritual aspect of pantheism. (i.e. I’m not an atheistic)

Here’s a site you might find interesting. I’m not pushing this site because I’m not into any organized movement, but you might find more ideas from there. I always believe in following your own instincts on things. :wink:

By the way, Albert Einstein had pantheistic views. Most people aren’t aware of this.

“The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism.” - Albert Einstein

In other threads and I am not going to insult my intellegence by another usless debate. Some people on here with thier agenda have questioned the scriptures. When asked to show all those inconsistancies they after a few posts decided . Well you are just quoting scripture. They could not stand on thioer own. Just as science can not stand on it's own. Anyone who believes we were apes at one time is simply delusional. Thier is no such evidence. The only thing man has evolved in is Knowledge . Which the prophet Daniel prophesied. Science says that this or that is bad and causes canser. Then a few years later admitts that they thought it might. What science alot of the time comes down to is a few select individuals deciding what is and what isn't. yet they have no idea about things. In the last 10 years they have said that at the moment of death the brain produces a chemical which is the same as when a person 1st hits the sleep state. What does the bible say Death is like sleep. No knowlegde of time. Einstiens therory was the accepted one for years now the therory of random chance is the scientific explanation for nueron and protons,electrons. They were going to push this threory in Texas At tax payers dollars to see if they could spin away these elements from each other. See since science in govt. controlled it is allowed govt. dollars which we have no say so in but as long as the adgenda is thier to prove they can be like a (creator) themselves then dollars are spent. Now lets go back to religion what do they get some get a tax break.Not much compared to govt./science spending for the good of man. Look around you. we are at war.everyone suspecting the other.planned? u can make your own opinion. The bible says though this will happen. When? when mankind has increased in knowledge to where they believe thier is no Elohim. This is called Satan. Plain and simple. Satanists believe that their in no Elohim besides them. Thier is no judgement that they make them, themselves. So when you see all this bashing that the believers are doing on here. It is not so much the believers bashing each other. No quite the oppisite it is the Satanists bashing because they want control. They want to make the rules. They want to RULE. The truth is they fall in thier own philosophies. Standing as one on a cliff debating Will it hurt or will it not.

Blessings...Miles

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, difficult or disrespectful of anyone's beliefs, but i am generally an inquisitive and genuinely would like to know the answer to these questions if anyone could kindly oblige me.

1)Do creationists honestly believe that the world was created in 7 days in todays present form, if so, where do dinosaurs (which as far as i can tell are not mentioned in the bible) come into the equation?

2)Do creationists believe that God created every living thing in the world , and if so, why did God create pathogens? Why cancer?

3) How do believers rationalize the parts of the Bible which instruct that all adultererss, women who are not (or appear to not be)virgins on their wedding day, people who work on the sabbath, and homosexuals be killed.

4) Why is it that we are brought up to believe it is social taboo to question improbable claims of anyone's religion but in every other sphere of life it is a virtue to possess rational/critical thinking skills?

Shalom I thought I would answer some of your questions 1 by 1.

The bible does not say the world was created in 6 days. The 7th is the sabbath of rest.

This is a transliteration of the beginning of Gen.

Gen 1:1-2
1 In the beginning of Elohim preparing the heavens and the earth — ( here we see the earth was already here)

2 the earth hath existed waste and void, and darkness [is] on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God fluttering on the face of the waters, ( again the earth is described)
YLT

Here we see the state of the earth from above. We know that thier were supervolcanoes that had erupted in which had blackeened the earth. which you could describe the earth as without form and void. Nothingness.

Gen 1:3-4

3 and Elohim saith, 'Let light be;' and light is.

4 And Elohim seeth the light that [it is] good, and Elohim separateth between the light and the darkness,
YLT

The earth was in chaos it was not formed in this one day in which you would have to believe from above. 6. the other 5 days Elohim created his Eden on earth.
Dionsaurs were mentioned by Job. What was before this re-creating of the earth we do not know. But man as being the dominant over the earth does not happen untill the 6th day when he inherits Yahweh's spirit. A main of reasoning.

2) Yes Elohim created all that needed to be rejuvenated on the earth then he created Adam. Adam means red clay/dust.

Yahweh gave us a set of laws for our own good. In the beginning we see that he told ma of every herb that bears seed you may eat.

Gen 1:29-30

29 And Elohim saith, 'Lo, I have given to you every herb sowing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in which [is] the fruit of a tree sowing seed, to you it is for food;

30 and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the heavens, and to every creeping thing on the earth, in which [is] breath of life, every green herb [is] for food:' and it is so.
YLT
At 1st animals or man did not eat flesh. Now we know that fresh vegetables are as healthy as you can get.

Yahshua spoke of the beginning..

Matt 19:4-6

4 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' 5 and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what Elohim has joined together, let not man separate."
NKJV

Adam and Eve did not divorce. Yet let look at what Yahshua brings back. From the beginning

Isa 11:6-9
"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,
For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahweh
As the waters cover the sea.
NKJV

Leter Yahweh gave certain animals for us to eat. The ones which we are not to eat he calls an abomination. To simply put tells his creation these will bring on sickness.
Do you know where uterian cancer is almost non existant in the world? Israel and Jews and anyone who follows the earing clean animals. Also people wonder how did Nostodamus be able to help stop the plague? He was half jewish he followed the laws of food and cleanliness and if you have watched any show about him and the plague this is what he preached and he also made medicines out of Herbs which are clean for man to eat.
This is before Yahshua's return and he speaks of food.

Isa 66:17
7 "Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves,
To go to the gardens
After an idol in the midst,
Eating swine's flesh and the abomination and the mouse,
Shall be consumed together," says Yahweh.
NKJV

3) the virgin. In those times a man paid a bride price to the parents. If he found she was not a virgin he could annull the marraige and take her back to her parents. No killing.

The other things you see are laws that Yahweh gave Israel after comming out of 400 years of slavery. He was strict with them to get this generation which did not make it to the promice land. To make these laws real to them and most importantly to thier children.

Yahweh did not always have someone killed for breaking laws. The ones who were killed were rebels. Who openly defide Yahweh's laws. This is called intentional sin. It is always punishable whether then or now. Unintentional sin for these same acts these people were not killed. Yahshua and the adultrous women is a great example of the law. Mercy always rules.

4) No one should take offence of sincere questioning. But on the other side anyone who causes discention among believers to make they quarrel among themselves, Is not to be tolerated. And we should pray Yahweh forgive them.

May Yahweh Guide You on Your Journey...Blessings of Shalom...Miles

i appreciate the friendly push in what you perceive to be the right direction spidercmb flowerforyou , but i still have intense reservations about all of the religions i have looked into thus far, Christianity being one them, so I remain agnostic

You search.....that is a good thing....as I did the same. I studied with many...and learned much.....and now live by only one thing......For me...God and Christ his only begotten son......and although a narrow path I walk....one I do so glady....so keep doing whatever it takes to find what you need.....jasmine.....and remember the more question you ask the more answers you will have.
