geeeeez relax Ghost lol.. I just meant the part about there being no
atheists in foxholes isn't true. And let me ask you about this pot and Christian thing?? just because YOUR gov't banned it and has made it such an evil influence, does that make pot un-Christian?. Please to show me where in the Bible it says Thou shalt not smokage the doobage. And don't give me the guff about the body being a temple, cuz alcohol is worse for you than marijuana and yet it's not against Christian ethics or virtues to imbibe. It's when it gets abused it becomes a sin. When it controls you, then it becomes a bad thing. |

but seriously Ghost, check out that book, Seven Roads to Hell, it really
is an excellent read regardless if the author is an atheist or not. |

i think that saying " there are no atheists in a fox hole" comes from
the idea that when people are faced with a situation like that they are faced with their own immortality and it really makes them wonder what(if anything) is on the other side and that they need all the help they can get. i've met alot of people that really haven't been challenged as much as they think they have and when it happens some time it makes them change their point of view on some things. they begin to realize that life ain't what they thought it was all along. |

Well, King you have a point there.
But I think a lot of use say things out of habit and or indoctrination. I still say God bless you, when someone sneezes. That's out of habit and curtesy. But as far as me praying to God while I'm in a Fox Hole dodging bullets and motor fire. I can't imagine anyone who has been influenced by the mainstream religions not cry out to some God that has been drilled into them, That was my premise about there's no Atheist in a fox hole. ( I should have said: There's no Christian indoctrinated Atheist in a fox hole then) LOL |

|
|
lol i kinda understand. in that situation it's kinda like,it ain't gonna
hurt. i think the big 3 are just on more people minds. i think a few of them would pray to me if they thought i could help lol |

I'd be willing to bet if you Google "Seven Roads to Hell" it'll tell you
who the author is(damn I wish I could remember lol)and the publisher. you should be able to order it on-line seeing as how one can buy ANYTHING on-line anymore lol. I hope you get a chance to read it Ghost. It really is THE best book I've read about combat during WW2. |

Ontario.... the phrase ABOUT athiests in a foxhole comes from
soldiers in war being shelled by the enemy, and ducking in thier foxholes waiting to be vaporised. And there really is no athiests there. wont find one soldier not Praying. Deep philosophical insight not needed I hope. |

sry Rambill, not everyone prays while being shelled. I know of 2
veterans that would make a game of it to take their minds off the terror. They'd pretend that the area they were in was one big target and their foxhole was the bullseye. Then they'd score the Germans based on how close to the "bullseye" they were, and if they missed the target area, they'd score it a "maggie's drawers". lol I'll tell ya same thing I told Ghost, READ SEVEN ROADS TO HELL! The author did NO praying and he was in the 101st. |

I wonder if this is it?:
In December 1944, Hitler launched a desperate massive counterstrike at the Allies, with 38 German divisions slamming through American lines. Then the 101st Airborne was thrown into the fight. Fresh from 72 brutal days of combat in Holland, with little food and ammunition, the Screaming Eagles struck back - and stunned the German forces. Then the real battle for the town of Bastogne - and its seven key roads - began... This powerful, action-packed memoir puts us in the middle of the legendary fighting force known as the Screaming Eagles. Along the way, Donald R. Burgett, just 19 years old at the time of the battle, vividly captures some of the most horrific action of World War II. From point-blank tank assaults to hand-to-hand combat, Private Burgett and his cold, hungry, and wounded fellow paratroopers stood against an overwhelming enemy force - and won the battle that secured victory for the Allies in World War II. ©1999 Donald R. Burgett; (P)2001 Random House Inc., Bantam Doubelday Dell Audio Publishing, a Division of Random House Inc. Sounds good to me so far. |

The only way I could find to get a concise story on the rad to hell is
by buying it though Amazon or something like that. Blahs! I can't believe there's no online description of this book or excerpt. |
