Hey guys here i am once again asking for help. I read that i need a Flourescent light so it wont dry out my Pac-Man Frog as much as other lights. My question is does it provide heat for the frog? Also i need something that the frog can see like a night and a day. Because some bulbs reptiles cant see so does the Flourescent bulb light up the cage so it can see like a in day?

a floresent light is just one of those long tube lights you see everywhere. they don't generate heat at all.

although reptile shops do sell them that mimic actual sunlight and moon light.

Okay Azrae you seem to know alot about them or atleast enough to give me a fwe pointers and thanx for all the help you have been trying to give. I'm guessing i have a Fluorescent light in there now because it was built for fish. You know to see them but not to heat the tank. So whata about the Incandescent then?

Pac man frogs do best in a 9 - 12 hour photo period. Longer periods may cause them to stop eating. Fluorescent is preferred because incandescent may dry out the skin.

incandesent is the lights you put in lamps. they generate heat but not much, higher wattage the more heat.

if you got a standard 25 gallon fish tank. i'd go with 2 work lamps each on timers. a 60 or 75 watt day light which will produce a little heat but not over heat the tank and a 60 watt moon light that won't generate heat which is also really good for reptiles. run the sun lamp for 9-10 hours ending around 7pm, moon light run 13-14 hours.

it wont matter which type you use as long as your not using standard house bulbs, the sun bulbs are much better, slightly more expensive but way better.

why don't you go buy a fu*kin book or look it up on google! if you want heat genius go buy a goddamn heat pad and stick it under the tank.

cuz like heat rocks reptiles aren't smart enough to get off of and they don't generate heat consistantly.......

Yea and as you can see a @$$ to go along with it. Anyway i cant figure this out. I need to provide a 10-12 hour period of light for him with constant heat.

i assume you have a reptile store around you......

go there and look at the lights, you can buy a silver dome lamp for like 6 bucks, the lights i think run about the same. they say on the box what the suggested wattage is for the cage size. that will tell you for sure.

the timers, go to home depot, they make ones that run just like a clock that plug into the socket and you plug the lamp into it. you turn one dial to set the time it turns on, turn a second dial to the time it shuts off.

you might also get a stick on thermometer sticker to monitor your heat with. but for a frog like that you really shouldn't be over 75 degrees.

Yea and actually lol PetCo is like 10 feet down the road from a Home Depot. Well thanx but hey i got a top right now for like fish like i said you know the Flourescent i guess and i have a 30 day return on it so should i take it back. Ohh and then what should i use to hold up the dome lamps? Like a screen top or something?

yeah a screen top is good, allows excess heat to escape. if anything take the frog back for now and get a credit on it until you get the cage all worked out.

i dunno how petco is, i don't shop there, but if you look in thephone book you can probably find a store that specializes in reptiles, i'd trust them over petco anyday.....

Yea there is a local petstore here i can go to. It's just the holidays. I think i will keep the frog for now i will try to feed him a small pinkie and there is a fire down here now making it warmer and hes close to it but still not enough heat. Okay i will do that thanx.
