John 9:16 Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath." But others asked, "How can a sinner do such miraculous signs?" So they were divided. There is another passage where Jesus chides the Pharisees about "What if one of you has an oxen fallen into a ditch. Do you not pull him out on the sabbath?" or something to that effect. Yes, keep the sabbath as a matter of principle but remain practical about it. At least that's my interpretation of it. I could probably be swayed by the "Old Testament/New Testament" argument too. Yeah, some of the legal-eese was tossed when Jesus was crucified. Numerous verses talk about us being "Dead to the Law" now. As far as dividing people who claim to be "more gooder" than you.... screw 'em. Who has time to waste on self-righteous twerps? It is not about being "more gooder" is it about deception. People have been deceived about what God says, and what God expects from us. You can look at the arguments in any perspective you want. From my point of view, if I saw you drop your wallet, I would tell you. If people ask about the Sabbath which they have, then I would tell them the truth. If you find any place in the Bible that says that we no longer need to keep the Sabbath, then I will never post again, and I will stop keeping it. Art |

Revo, You do a fine job representing yourself and thank-you for sharing YOUR words on the topic. I'm wondering, how many Christian doctrines actually CHANGED? They surely must have, to allow so many Christians, not only to work on Sunday, but to spend the whole day 'shopping' (after church)which requires that OTHER Christians work that day, just to serve them????? Redykeulouse, it certainly was as fine job Revo did. Yours is such an interesting question. I wish there was a way to convey to everyone of this forum exactly how much has really changed. If you don't mind, I would like to list just a few of them. 1. God's Holy days to Pagan holidays 2. The wage of sin is death to the soul is immortal 3. No idols to statues of Mary and Jesus 4. The Kingdom of God on earth to we live forever in heaven 5. Hell is the grave to Dante's inferno--an ever burning fire 6. Not taking God's name in vain to calling priests holy Father 7. Keeping the ten commandments to the law was done away 8. God's purpose is to glorify man to our purpose is to glorify God 9. Sin is breaking God's law to sin is separation from God 10. No other Gods to acceptance of Santa, Ishtar, and Samhain 11. Repentance from dead works to only believe in Jesus required 12. Turn the other cheek to killing those who believe different 13. A gospel of a kingdom on earth, to a gospel of prosperity 14. God is a family to God is a trinity The Scriptures speak of there being a very real devil who rules this world. It says he has deceived the entire world. I know that people would object to this, and say it is radical. However, that is part of the deception. People don't know they are deceived. But, just look at our world. We seek peace by means of war. We protect criminals not the victims. We care more about a tree or animal than a human embryo. We treat symptoms not the disease. The justice system is not just. We are driven by greed and lust and ego. Look at the news this week and ask this question, "is it possible the world is deceived." Just look at my little list of the changes that are the direct opposite to what the Bible teaches. I tell you the truth after nearly 40 years of study, I am convinced that there is nothing untouched. All has been perverted in one way or another. I know it is hard to believe, but in all honesty, you should be able to relate to this. It is why the atheists mock believers so much. I don't blame them. There is so much that is simply foolishness and contradiction in the modern "Christian" belief. Thanks for the question though. I just wish I could somehow make the answer clear enough and interesting enough for people to read it. Art |

Most people have no clue what life was really like only a few centuries ago. Religious beliefs ruled the world largely up until the time of Isaac Newton (1642-1727), and even then they were slow to change. In fact it they didn’t change until much later Historians don’t give credit to true enlightenment (the realization that the world isn’t really ruled by superstitions) until the French Revolution which occurred after Newton. And that was only the beginning of thing. Religion has been in serious declined for the last 3 centuries, and that decline has been accelerating over that time. In the past century alone religion has taken a severe nose dive with respect to people actually believing in it in a formal way. And rightfully so! Consider This,.. Old superstitions are out the window. Sure people still cling to the idea of a God, but they most certainly don’t think like people of old did. No way. It’s utterly impossible for them to think like that today. Louis Pasture didn’t make his discoveries until the 1800’s! Prior to that people still believed that flies miraculously emerged from rotten meat. They had no clue that flies laid eggs and that sort of thing. I’m this is how ignorant the world was. People genuinely believed in miracles because they believed the world to be full of miracles every moment of every day! They had no clue what disease was, etc. They were truly ignorant and completely dependent on a believe in superstition. Sure there were those who didn’t believe this way, people like Copernicus, Galileo, Gregor Mendel, and many other scientists and philosophers always existed throughout all of history. But I’m talking about the masses in general. People in general attributed everything to gods, spirits, magic, and demons. This was the belief of how the everyday world actually worked! People don’t believe that now. People today realize that there are rational understandable explanations for these things and that we can even control them to a large degree. We have eradicated many diseases that were commonplace. And we have good ideas of what causes others even if we haven’t yet been able to find ways to prevent or cure them yet. I mean, even if we can’t stop something like AIDS we still understand that it’s a virus. It’s like a train coming at you on the tracks. Just because you know what it is doesn’t mean that you are going to be able to stop it by sticking out your foot in front of it. But just because you can’t stop it doesn’t mean that you don’t understand what it is. The point is that years ago (and not that long ago) people genuinely didn’t understand anything about how the world works. In less than 300 years they figured it out. And in less than 50 years they used that knowledge to build all manner of machines that perform “miracles” every single day! We don’t think of them as miracles simply because we understand how they work now. My point it, that superstition is out. Intelligent understanding is in. And we aren’t going to go back to our old ways. At the rate that religion is deteriorating it will never make it through this millennium. It’s almost dead coming into the millennium. People might argue that “Christianity” still holds a large part of the population!!! But that’s a farce. All that means is that if you take a survey most people will label themselves “Christian”, but in truth they don’t believe in the original religion one iota. Maybe they still hold out hope in a God and an everlasting life. But do they really believe in the religious doctrine in detail? No way! It’s just a shadow of an ancient manmade God. And most people realize it, they're just having a hard time admitting it even to themselves. Most of them have "discarded" the organized religion and just claim a belief and alliance with Jesus. It's become like Linus' Security Blanket. They refuse to let go of it, but don't really use it. This is very well written. And I believe it is absolutely true! However, there is a point that Abra does not comprehend and it is this; There was a time even before that of which he speaks. There was a time before the superstition. There was a time before the ignorance. For example, God told man the world was round before the superstition. He told man that the earth was hung on nothing. He told us to wash if we touch anything dead. He told us what animals were good for food and which to avoid before we knew about trichinosis. There was a time when man did not have the technology that he has today, but a time when he knew the truth. However, that time when there was a true religion was taken over by a false religion, the ancient Mysteries, pretending to be Christian, and it was they who brought on the age of superstition, darkness, murder, and sickness and disease. Here is what you don't know abra. You think that we have entered into some sort of golden age by our knowledge. You are dead wrong. We have learned how to harness enormous power technologically, but we are no different from those who perpetrated the superstition in the past. We don't know how to use that power. As a result, we will use it to destroy human life on a massive scale. We are not enlightened. The scriptures speak of those very empires that came and oppressed. They speak of this continuing, and all has been fulfilled up to this point. Now there is one last empire to come, and it will use this power we have created to destroy and harm. Here is what the Scriptures state: Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. This is the time we live in. Man has the atom and hydrogen bombs but he does not have the wisdom or heart to know how to use this power he has discovered. That wisdom is something we don't have inherent in us. It must come from the God that you deny exists. The world is not in such a mess because we followed the bible, it is in a mess because we, and especially the religious community, have not followed it. Those religious leaders in the past have nothing to do with the God of the Bible. They were and are the unwitting tools of God's enemy. You said it well, but in my mind, you draw the wrong conclusion from it. Art |

I have read all the posts again. Thanks Art for giving me the idea to start this topic, I've found it very interesting.
Art - while you have much to say, this is what I found the most intersting: I wish there was a way to convey to everyone of this forum exactly how much has really changed.
God is a family to God is a trinity These (and many other examples) are the reason that there is so much ambivalence extended toward those Christians who support specific 'doctrine'. Art, your posts specifically explain how very important the Sabboth really is to the 'basics' of Christianity. This was exactly what I was hoping to have come out in this thread. But to be honest I was rather hoping others would see, their own hypocracy, by explaining the importance of the Sabbath and relating it to their own lives. Sometimes it's necessary to hold a mirror in front of a speaker, and hope they will learn from the experience. In this case, to judge themselves according to their own beliefs and stop judging others who are not bound by those beliefs. I am sentimental when it comes to 'traditions'. I feel tradition is important to each of us, individually and socially, as it connects us with the past, provides community in the present and extends our arms into the future. For that reason I'm sad that tradition has not been maintained in the Christian community. To be totally sincere, however, if the (Christian) community continues to believe they are entitled to pass judgment on others to the point of creating bias accepting prejudical actions, and dictating sociatal laws in accordance with their doctrine, than their is a tradition in need of breaking. With the information you have provided, Art, it seems that Christians, themselves, can be credited with the unraveling of that which they seek to extoll to others. There is nothing sacred in a tradition of change and nothing of value to extend into the future. |

If you twist enough and interpret the way you want to you can find any "truth" you're looking for
Good luck with that. |

Congregations of hypocrisy is exactly where so much unrest to the community of Believers in God went wrong. Selfish wanting, and power in masses worked to the results of some. Forever changing the intended wisdom.
Lending to hysteria and separation. Kat |

These (and many other examples) are the reason that there is so much ambivalence extended toward those Christians who support specific 'doctrine'. But, people are not interested in the Sabbath generally. And, no one can see their own error. Correct me if I am wrong, but my impression is that you would like to see professing Christianity exposed for their hypocrisy in order to justify not accepting the Bible, its God, and teachings. Their mess does not invalidate the bible. It invalidates their belief about the Bible. But, for me to not cry out? That won't happen. I can't stay on this forum forever. I have other work to do, but for me to not teach that we should respect and honor that book, and its God, it is unthinkable. This is the entire message of the constitution of the United States of America. They wrote free speech into our law to insure that if someone had the truth, it could be spoken, and not repressed. Further, I have never seen anyone condemn others here. It is the cry of those who oppose the Bible and the professing Christian world. For example, I have condemned the logic and arguments that some have had against the Bible and its God. But, no one is judging, meaning condemning others. But, please realize, I mean take a look around. The atheists mock and ridicule the professing Christians. Do you think they have no hypocrisy? Do you think their desire to have no moral authority over them, so that in effect, they can do what ever they want is not its own hypocrisy? We are all hypocrites. None of us live up to the standards we set for ourselves. Further, I believe that there is incredible hypocrisy among atheists. They contradict themselves, they make up scenarios to fit their beliefs. They manipulate history, and write entire books to discredit the Bible. But, they are driven, just like the professing Christian community to find reasons to justify what they believe, not necessarily to find out the truth. Speaking of finding the truth, regarding people seeing their own hypocrisy. Our human nature blocks it. It is the defense mechanism. You do it, I do it, and we all do it. Thus, "professing Christians" will NOT accept the Sabbath. They actually worship according to the ancient mystery religions. They don't know this, but if you tell them, they will become defensive and fight against it without really knowing. But, you can ask any knowledgeable witch. They will tell you that the professing Christian community worships their gods. Sometimes it's necessary to hold a mirror in front of a speaker, and hope they will learn from the experience. In this case, to judge themselves according to their own beliefs and stop judging others who are not bound by those beliefs. We all need that mirror, but we don't always want to look at it. I hope you understand that I do judge myself by my beliefs. I don't judge (condemn) others. However, they do judge us. You judge us. For example, you call us names like Hypocrites. You think you are superior because of their hypocrisy and don't see your own. You wanted this post to teach them the lesson you want them to learn. Isn't this fun irony? To be totally sincere, however, if the (Christian) community continues to believe they are entitled to pass judgment on others to the point of creating bias accepting prejudical actions, and dictating sociatal laws in accordance with their doctrine, than their is a tradition in need of breaking. Does this mean that those who profess to believe in the Bible have no right to say that they believe homosexuality is wrong? Does it mean that they have no right to say that they believe abortion is wrong? Do they have no right to say and teach what they believe is true and right and good? What would you do to a prophet of God for teaching the truth and condemning our society for its injustice, and lack of morality? Does the prophet have no rights in our country any longer? I say this, because I believe that it is thinking like yours that will lead us to this exact spot. It is already a hate crime to quote certain parts of the Bible in Canada. Eventually, they will jail us for speaking what we believe to be true. It will be thinking like yours that causes this. So, I think you have every right to profess that there is no God. But, I have a right to profess that there is. Further, while I think there is no evidence that God does not exist. You cannot prove that. I do have the evidence that He exists. The fact of entropy and that everything is winding down requires something or someone to have wound it up. The creation requires a creator The perfect design of our universe requires a designer Laws require a law giver Life only comes from other life, there must be a life giver There is fulfilled prophecy There is answered prayer So, it is not like we offer a belief in the God without some reason for such belief. That is no hypocrisy. With the information you have provided, Art, it seems that Christians, themselves, can be credited with the unraveling of that which they seek to extoll to others. Yes, I agree, they are unraveling what they believe they must preach to the world. And, ironically, they are doing that by the fact that they don't live what they preach. Sad, for me, but true. It is reaching critical mass too. The Christian community is becoming a laughing stock on TV and movies. They are always pictured as kooks, and weirdos. Bill Mayer (sp?) is an example of where all this is leading. There is nothing sacred in a tradition of change and nothing of value to extend into the future. Yes, it would be so wonderful if we actually lived by what the book says, and had a tradition of sincerely living it. I believe that it would be so attractive that the vast majority of people would willingly seek to be a part of it. After giving the commandments, God said: Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! It would be better than any of us could ever imagine. However, in the scriptures, God says He will return at the end of a certain time, and then He will set up His kingdom on earth, headquartered at Jerusalem. As word of that Kingdom spreads, people will desire to be a part of it. As Zechariah writes about that future time: Zec 8:21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. Zec 8:22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD. Zec 8:23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you. This future time is my hope for mankind. As an aside, everyone is posting here, and no one on my Sabbath thread. It is disappointing to me. But, trust me, people, especially professing Christians, don't want to hear about what God actually says. I would recommend it though. Try it someday, to read the Scriptures for what they say, and not what others teach that they say. It is eye opening. Art |

I'll take a day off anytime. Call me chribudajew if it keeps me in a warm toasty bed on a cold January morning. Jesus was not born on Dec. 25th. I guess if you believe in the sabbath, it does not matter when you keep it as long as you do, right? You may be alone, and find it hard to sell your HR department at work, but hey... uh... you know christmas and the sabbath are 2 different things. |
|
|
|
But, people are not interested in the Sabbath generally. And, no one can see their own error.
Considering your elaboration on the primary ‘importance’ of the Sabbath, nearly to excess, I find you quite generous in forgiving other Christians who are simply “not interested…generally”. However, you are quick enough to point out the faults of non-believers who make the error. Why bother, when Christians themselves, are not even interested? Correct me if I am wrong, but my impression is that you would like to see professing Christianity exposed for their hypocrisy in order to justify not accepting the Bible, its God, and teachings. You were correct, until AFTER the word hypocrisy. It is not for me to change the faith of others. If logic does not fit with doctrine I will not force it unless, or until, those beliefs interfere with the human rights of others. And currently they do, that is my justification for demonstrating hypocrisy. Their mess does not invalidate the bible. It invalidates their belief about the Bible.
Their mess, was made through ‘interpretation’ of the same Bible you read. That means someone is in error, but no one wants to claim their wrong, not even you. So the mess is yours and theirs and has no business being interpreted in our laws by the highest bidder. Further, I have never seen anyone condemn others here. It is the cry of those who oppose the Bible and the professing Christian world.
The atheists mock and ridicule the professing Christians. Do you think they have no hypocrisy? Do you think their desire to have no moral authority over them, so that in effect, they can do what ever they want is not its own hypocrisy? I do not support open and reasonless ridicule. If you feel Christianity is persecuted by atheists, it might be more logical to attempt to understand why? Also, I might ask, is it only atheists who are offering such ridicule? We are all hypocrites. None of us live up to the standards we set for ourselves. Further, I believe that there is incredible hypocrisy among atheists. They contradict themselves, they make up scenarios to fit their beliefs. They manipulate history, and write entire books to discredit the Bible. But, they are driven, just like the professing Christian community to find reasons to justify what they believe, not necessarily to find out the truth.
Oh my, that is a paragraph that reaks of a persecution complex. Actually I found it ironic that I could interchange your words “atheist & Christian” and hear another cry in the other ear. For some people the answer to ‘everything’ is God. For others, it is not an acceptable option. Either way, the answers one hears are often contradictory to the answers of the other. That is reason for discussion. That is why we need to attempt to allow others their beliefs and for those with beliefs to consider that they alone are bound by what they believe and can not bind others to those beliefs.
So, Art, are those you describe in defiance of God? Should the laws of government be responsible for punishment of such high offenses? Who should be responsible to creating the law of the land, and PLEASE, what ‘doctrine’ would be best suited to take those laws from? Do not say the Bible,it obviously needs a interpreter. What I want from you, is to know, of all the various ‘divisions’ within the Christian faith, who (what sect), in your opinion, subscribes to the most accurate and valid doctrine? Put your faith on line, and we will see from whence the ‘persecution’ comes! We all need that mirror, but we don't always want to look at it. I hope you understand that I do judge myself by my beliefs. I don't judge (condemn) others.
So as you look into this mirror you find yourself without judgment of others. Or at the very least, if you do judge it is for your own purposes? Your statement can not hold water unless your compassion and lack of condemnation are supportive to the plight of every person who is now, or might be in the future, subjected to oppression at the hands of OTHERS who would pass such judgment. If your statement is valid, than I expect I should thank-you for your support of HR3685 (ENDA) and your ethical voice addressing the inequality of the marriage law, and of course, even though it failed, like the others, your generous support of the Matthew Shephard Act (hate crimes legislature). And I just know we can count on your true blue American ethics to support the coming argument to repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t tell’ law. What do you see in that mirror again? However, they do judge us.(atheists) You judge us. For example, you call us names like Hypocrites. You think you are superior because of their hypocrisy and don't see your own. You wanted this post to teach them the lesson you want them to learn.
Excuse me, but this thought does not follow. You are the one who has shown the existence of hypocrisy. You have stated that ‘Everyone is subject to hypocrisy’, but in this quote you seem to think you are the only one capable of recognizing that. Sounds to me like a proclamation of superiority. I have never made such a claim and I have had to subjugate myself when my words have been so in error. I have nothing to loose by my hypocrisy and much to gain in the knowledge that is shown me. It is doctrine and the people and hypocrisy surrounding doctrine who have much to loose. My words: To be totally sincere, however, if the (Christian) community continues to believe they are entitled to pass judgment on others to the point of creating bias accepting prejudical actions, and dictating sociatal laws in accordance with their doctrine, than theirs is a tradition in need of breaking.
Art quote Does this mean that those who profess to believe in the Bible have no right to say that they believe homosexuality is wrong? Does it mean that they have no right to say that they believe abortion is wrong? Do they have no right to say and teach what they believe is true and right and good?
Art, they may say whatever they like. But if their words allow others to believe that bigotry and bias is an accepted judgment, and theirs to make, there will be those who will take action, out of that belief, causing harm and oppression to others. If you accept the government that grants you the freedom to ‘say’ what you believe, than the least you can do is protect, from harm, those you are speaking out against. You are so generous to simply wave off the fact that ‘others are simply not interested in the Sabbath, why not be so generous to other offenders of your list of sins. Why do you believe that the government has the right be judge and punisher of only the sins you deem the most offensive? Why not all the sins? PLEASE explain how this is NOT hypocrisy? What would you do to a prophet of God for teaching the truth and condemning our society for its injustice, and lack of morality?
Does the prophet have no rights in our country any longer? I say this, because I believe that it is thinking like yours that will lead us to this exact spot. It is already a hate crime to quote certain parts of the Bible in Canada. Eventually, they will jail us for speaking what we believe to be true. It will be thinking like yours that causes this. OH I SEE. Your attempts to continue to oppress a section of society, is because you ‘fear’ LOOSING, what you perceive to be, Christian control within your government. Art, I am not like you. If I felt that this government, in any way, was attempting to restrict people from their religious exercise without ‘substantial’ cause, providing the least imposition, I promise you I would be there fighting for your right to continue to believe and exercise your beliefs in accordance to whatever doctrine moves you. (as long as it does not interfere with basic and civil rights of any others. My quote With the information you have provided, Art, it seems that Christians, themselves, can be credited with the unraveling of that which they seek to extoll to others.
Art quote Yes, I agree, they are unraveling what they believe they must preach to the world.
Well there you go, at least in part, here is an answer to your feelings of persecution. So why, sir, do you blame the atheists, when it is they who are battling so many fronts of hypocrisy? My quote There is nothing sacred in a tradition of change and nothing of value to extend into the future.
Art quote Yes, it would be so wonderful if we actually lived by what the book says, and had a tradition of sincerely living it. I believe that it would be so attractive that the vast majority of people would willingly seek to be a part of it.
Art, perhaps you would have your wish, if the book were not so open to interpretation. But this tool, that is claimed infallible, has not had a good run. From the time that the written word, now called scripture, was used as proof for Christians, it has been open to any slant the powerful wanted to put on it. Giving religion ‘freedom’, in this country, did not really help it along. It only provided further opportunity for interpretation, and a willingness of others to follow the charismatic nature of the speaker. This has only served to make ‘some’ Christians unable to recognize other Christians as brothers in Christ. I do believe the persecution you perceive, and fear has includes a Christian source as well as atheist. I would recommend it though. Try it someday, to read the Scriptures for what they say, and not what others teach that they say. It is eye opening.
I’m afraid, I will sound like so many others, but I must respond as they have. I have read scriptures and I have viewed it in light of many various doctrines. Now I would like to recommend something to you! Read your bible until you are blind, and then, sir, lift your head and look to the horizon and witness life as it is being lived today. May you keep your peace and be well as you live it. |

I also know from living in a farm community that Sabbath holds a different value for those communities and I really do believe that they enjoy the one day off considering the daily rigor they endure. They do not do nothing, of course, but it is a day of less work for the most part. Animals need care 24/7/365. It is not necessarily religious for all either.

Everything you ever wanted to know about sabbath
This is why the sabbath is important. Exod.16 1. [23] And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. 2. [25] And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. 3. [26] Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. 4. [29] See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. Exod.20 1. [8] Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 2. [10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 3. [11] For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exod.31 1. [13] Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. 2. [14] Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 3. [15] Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 4. [16] Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. Exod.35 1. [3] Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. 2. [11] And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. 3. [15] And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: 4. [16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. 5. [24] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. 6. [32] It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath. 7. [38] Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD. 8. [39] Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. [6] And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee, 4. [34] Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. 3. [35] As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. 4. [43] The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. [15] And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day. 2Kgs.4 1. [7] And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king. 3. [16] There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. 3. [17] Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? 4. [18] Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath. 5. [19] And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. 6. [21] Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. 7. [22] And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. [24] And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein; 4. [27] But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched. [16] Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. 4. [20] And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God. 5. [21] Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. 6. [4] And the burnt offering that the prince shall offer unto the LORD in the sabbath day shall be six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish. 4. [12] Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings voluntarily unto the LORD, one shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth one shall shut the gate.
