Thief

Somewhere in the darkness
Beyond all fear and grief
I know she's there and hiding
The wicked little thief.

Stealing bits of humor
Storing bits of love
Standing in the background
Has she had enough?

I know she's there and waiting
She wants to steal my heart
I know I've deeply moved her
But will she play the part?

She's never really spoken
Thieves though rarely do
Standing in the shadows
So what am I to do?

She's somewhat a mystery
Intrguing my own thought
Waiting for the time
To see what life has brought.

I know she waits in darkness
And what she wants ain't cheap
Perceiving ev'ry moment
My cautious little thief.
