Well it wasn't during the dead of winter but there was more than one morning I woke up to a ground cover of snow...
One year my ex and I led a family into the north back country in the Sierras... It snowed 10 inches on July 5th while we were riding in. These people packed swim suits, shorts and t-shirts.. as if they were going to the Bahama's. Apparently they did not bother to read the suggested packing list we sent. One of them offered me 200.00 for my insulated canvas duster. I politely turned him down.. saying... what good is 200 bucks out here? I'd never get a chance to spend it before I died of exposure! He all of a sudden got an ashen look on his face... shivering in his t-shirt and shorts.

I left out the part that their camp was just around the next bend and there was a fire, hot coffee, tents and sleeping bags waiting for them.

I was much more cruel back then...

laugh laugh laugh laugh Sometimes it's hard not to be cruel to people with no common sense! I once spent a half hour argueing w/ a group of tourists over a mounted elk head. They were soooo sure it was a moose and would not listen otherwiselaugh laugh I finally just agreed and said ok your right it's a moose.....dumbass!! LMAO

True... If I never have to tell another idiot how to sh!t in the woods...15 times ~ before they get it right ~ I could die a happy man.

There was more then a few times I had to threaten to take all the horses and mules away...making them walk out the 24 miles... if the didn't go clean up their little toilet paper flagged piles of crap in the woods.

Apparently they just thought the shovel was the back woods toilet paper holder.

It wasn't too long before they stopped letting me camp with the clients. I prefered to camp with the animals anyway.

I don't need city stuff MISTAH COUNTRY
Huh? So.. am I supposed to sing and dance? Maybe put on a magic show?

I was without internet for a little over a year until about 2 months ago. Didn't really miss it. I just played my games and was happy with that.

I'm always ready for when the power goes out. I keep a propane stove and a non electric coffee pot handy. A fireplace is a plus since I've used one to cook many times. I've had to go without power for 5 days before... it wasn't that bad but then I'm used to doing without a lot of things.

How and why did you learn you could do that???
The first time I tried it? Living in Reno Nevada in the late 80's.. It snowed one morning about 4 feet and the power went out. We lived on the northern edge of town and it became apparent when we looked down on the city there was little hope we were going to see power restored anytime soon.. Virginia Street ~ The main drag ~ was not plowed for days and the Casino's were dark!
My ex and I were sitting in the front window watching the snow...and admiring our handiwork.. A snowman we built earlier.. when almost simultaneously we thought of it.

Wow, four ft of snow! I've been without power, but always been way cold enough in the garage to keep the food safe...just didn't have to resort to that creativity! Sounds like a neat memory!
