Mingle speed dating with forum members or $500?

Definitely speed dating with the fellow forum minglers and hoping that a particular special someone shows up so we can catch-up. But, I would love to meet everyone in person. I love this question Gia, it really got me thinking about a book I read a couple years ago where strangers take a (bus) road trip along the coastline in Greece. They were all foreigners and there was love and loss etc. It's a great story.


Potluck dinner with friends or solo meals watching your favourite TV series/ film?

I adore the concept of dating sites doing outings, speed dating or guided tours. Anything to get people face to face. It's like you go for the tour and find love. Mike has already run away with the speed dating and is doingit in North Dakota. 🤣

They have widow/widower outings, like lunches, dinners, karaoke, and theatre performances. I want to start doing stuff like that, but they are older people and I don't know if I fit in. It’s on my bucket list. I think I need to work on going out by myself first.

I would love to eat with someone, so putlock dinner with friends. I had enough solo meals to last a lifetime. I told my widower friend that I missed eating with someone and we should eat together on video chat. He heard I wanted to watch him eat. It was a hilarious mix up. I got to watch him cook and eat twice this week. See how it gets lost in translation. We had so much fun laughing. I got him singing to me, telling me stories and then I spotted the guitar in the background… so got him playing. Man, I love that so much and he even said the next day that he had so much fun on video chat. I'm at the stage of letting people back in. Maybe soon?

You're very talented in storytelling Gia! I enjoyed reading the below, it beats the abrupt one word answers. I enjoy social activities and I like trying out new things and meeting new people. I love listening to people's stories.
That sounds like a lovely video chat with great activity. I also, believe in "time" and everything happens in good time. Pressure works in the creative field. Anytime, I have felt highly pressured/ stressed in a romantic sense, I don't do well with that. I'm sure in due time you will be able to embrace letting people in, but I think everything you described below sounds fantastic.

Trying out new cuisines in restaurants or following a recipe and doing yourself for friends and family?

New cuisine. New recipes for family and friends have been done before and it’s stressful: especially when you don’t know how it will taste. I like to try out my recipes before sharing them with family.

@Merry: the bus tour and meeting all of you in person would be a trip I would take!

@Gia: I don’t know where you are but there’s an app called Meetup where you can join groups of single people in your city try a variety of things. I also hate eating alone when I don’t have my kids so I’m constantly making plans with friends to eat out and catch up.
@Merry: I know you mentioned that everything happens in good time, which I agree with…but I think it’s also necessary to step out of your comfort zone so that new experiences and people can enter your life

I definitely agree with you, Ms Muffin in regards to stepping out of one's comfort zone. Opportunities don't just come knocking, so I definitely understand what you mean.

And, the feeling is mutual to meet all our fellow minglers in person. 🪻🩷It would be a trip of a lifetime, I believe. I wonder how many others would be up for doing that?

Since I'm aquaphobic,I think I will have to go with stepping on the gas which in away provides different great views and always piques my curiosity about what I'm seeing and wonder at the lives of people I'm passing by.
