The Waltons were not the goody two-shoes they were sometimes made out to be. They dealt with poverty, cruelty, racism and other hard facts of life in a dignified loving,go to your family for help kind of way. They might have been kiinda corney, but at the time in Americas history we sure needed them for an example of what family was all about. To this day there are over 30,000 registered fan club members in three clubs in three different countries.(U.S., England, Netherlands.) They still hold reunions every year, and there is a museum in Schyler Virginia that is visited by over 45,000 people a year from all over the world. The show beat out Flip Wilson and The Mod Squad when it first came on.
